Great information, once you see how the seat cushions are being held in place it makes everything so much easier to disassemble, instead of blindly struggling and hoping you somehow get lucky. Thanks very much! 1990 C4 owner.
Hay this is #torah57mitch and you are the first one to actually show the technique on how to actually remove the back cushion from the seat frame and actually know what you are doing. Grate Job I am in the process of reupholstering a set of 93' bucket seats out of a corvette I am going to make new covers using the old seat covers as pattern using ultra leather for the new covers great job #torah57mitch
Great video. Would you be able to provide information on how to remove the back seat of a 96 vette (collector edition) as the seat is different than the one you show in your video? Thanks
The removal was quite simple as you showed but the installation looks like a headache, can you offer some advise on how to put the bottom seats back in ?
Could you please make a video explaining how to adjust the seat using the power seat controls? I cant seem to figure out how to get the seat as close to the pedals as possible while also having it recline more
Hmm, the headrest for some seats I have simply don't want to come out :/ And know of any kits that can be used to repair the bronze leather? I haven't found any with correct matching dyes....
Should this method for the rear cushion also work on sport seats? My 87 sport seat rear cushion feels bonded at the edges where the back edge of the side bolsters mate with the shell. I'm not sure if I just need to hit them with some heat and the bond will release or if there is some other mechanical bond I need to be aware of that is unique to the sport seats.
T Hopkins , the material edges are rolled over themselves with a plastic strip to create a clean edge and then stapled through that strip into the rear seat shell. I haven't done mine yet but looks like a big pain in the neck.
I found that all you have to do is push the front of the seat down which in turn pushes the entire clip mechanism down then move the clip to the rear and then lift up the seat. Pulling the rear of the seat out and up is not easy and appears to be too much effort with the possibility of damaging something up front in the leather or other parts of the seat.
OK, after some frustration I got my neighbor to help. You need two sets of hands to push and pull. I also used a pair of needle nose pliars to push and pull the clip on the seat into place.
That clip you are talking about comes out very easily. Your method is backwards. Just push down on the seat at the front where the clip is located then move the clip down and towards the front of the car. It swings free of the seat cushion mounting plastic. Just push the seat down then move the clip down and outward. Simple.
I need help ! I need to know how to take out the drivers side seat ! I'm having trouble because it's been sitting and I do t know how to remove it . Please respond
As the manual says...reverse of removal. Lol. Kidding aside it's a bit of a bear. You need to feed one side first and then push back and to the side you just installed. The seat has more play than you think. Easier said than done. Best of luck.
