Excellent video!! I did rejet my carburetor and after watching your video I realized that I routed my throttle cables incorrectly, the way you had them was correct.
@@one_terrabike3151 I just finished upgrading to the Acerbis 5.8 tank, XRsOnly exhaust, jetting and swapped red fenders for white. Have a couple more items to do (JNS Headlamp, smaller turn signals and a rear rack). I love this bike.
Big thnx from the Netherlands! The airbox intake tube was a big problem on My Honda Fmx 650. Now how I see you doing it, I was in 2 minutes ready.. Great that you sharing you're Knowledge.
Good video thank you for the easy to follow disassembly of the carburetor. I thought about taking it to my Honda dealership for re-jetting but they are 170 per hour!
Thank you! 🙂 Check out the Dave's mod video of mine (sorry for the music I shouldn't have included it lol) and check the timestamps...that should help! 🙂
the side panels are all I remove ( not the seat or tank or other body parts the throttle cables are easy, just remove the two Phillips screws holding the carb bracket to the carb and then unhook the cables from the bell crank then you don't loose adjustment
Great Video, Just installed new jets on my 09’ XRL, found out there’s no reason to undo the throttle cables near the Handlebars. All u need to do is loosen the nuts that hold the cables on to the Carb, separate the cables and no problem they pop right off.Otherwise the whole mod was done in two hours. Runs way better with no choke needed using 55/158 jets and one shim on the needle,Drilled the slide also ,,Motorcycle shop wanted $185.00 ,, LOL
You're absolutely correct about removing the cables... Not exactly sure what was going through my mind then but glad you pointed that out! [it'll save people time lol]
That was amazing, best how to video ive ever seen and i rarely ever post comments but this one deserved it, to the point, nothing missing, easy to follow. I thought about taking it to a shop but i seen a 5 minute video and had to take a look. Was not disappointed. Thank you sir!!!
hi this Bruce, the 4:39 time , how does the choke come out? mine is stuck inside, it come out a little but it gets stuck! this is better that the other video, it makes it much easier!
The NX650 and XR600R combined is what the XR650L is. It uses the frame concept off the XR600R and motor from the NX650 (its gearing is different though). The XL's are a tad older, and unfortunately I don't know too much about those 😔
You do not need to remove the cable from the throttle. You do not need to touch the throttle at all. just loosen the nuts down by the carburetor and disconnect from carb
You're absolutely correct! I believe someone else mentioned this in the comments before 😁. Thanks for trying to help others looking to do this & of course thank you for watching!
If it doesn't idle you need to clean your pilot jet out 😁...while you're in there clean everything of course, but your needle mostly affects your mid range power.
@@one_terrabike3151 Do I need to pay attention to how many rotations ,in or out, for the pilot jet? Mine recently will not idle without choke. Ran great before I forgot to run all the gas out of carb before storing it for a few months in Arizona.
I've never tried that myself as you'd have to disconnect virtually everything on the carburetor to do so... That means you're only about 2 steps away from pulling the carburetor out [it'd be connected to the intake boot and airbox tube and you'd need to undo the brake reservoir bolt]. For how easy it is to just remove it and work on it while it's removed I'd just do the extra 2 or so steps
@@bottsfinevids4463 Have you done this? Used to be easy on the 2 strokes back in the day. All I need to get to is the pilot jet and clean it out real quick. All this to get to a pilot jet? Jeeesh.
I haven't had to remove mine quite yet but I'll take a look in the service manual and let you know-- if I find on forums more ppl would like a video I'll make one 🙂
It’s a PITA! I’ve done mine a few times to replace a rear shock. You have to remove the seat, side covers, and the little guard attached the the bottom of the box. Then take all the bolts out, disconnect the wires on top, open the zip ties attached to the top, and then collapse the intake tube and pull it through the left side of the frame. It will fit... barely.... might help to spit on it.
