Hearing the click in yours triggered my PTSD. I wanna surgically remove mine but I CANNOT LOCATE IT! I have removed the entire section where it occurs and I still hear it.

So the principle reason this is probably happening during A/D conversion, is that the internal clock is misfiring. If ur recording to a pre-amp that's digital and sending the signal over something like spidif/adat to your main soundcard. The clock settings need to be changed on your sound card to set the pre-amp as the current source. This is why having a global clock is so important in a high-end hardware setup.

Decent video, would be helpful if you solo'ed the vocal to really drive your point home. The click happens at the same time as that distorted kick so it's hard to really tell the difference after you use the pencil tool.

How? It doesn't work in my Cubase.
@Iuri480
@Iuri480 3 года назад
@@Paiyce I've just figured out! In Cubase you gotta double-click the audio you want to edit and select "process" under the "inspector" tab in the left-hand side window (make sure it is not hidden by typing ctrl+alt+L). Then on the bottom window (ctrl+alt+B if it is not showing) make sure the "editor" tab is appearing. Now just zoom in the audio waves until you see them as lined curves rather than white drawings. You should be able to use the drawing tool now. Thanks a lot @5piece! Your tip really helped. I've finally managed to clear out a recording that I really wanted to keep but was full of popping sounds because of a hardware issue I didn't notice when recording.

Great tool the pencil ✏️ but I don't know does fl studio have it

I can’t speak on FL as it’s an entirely different DAW. You’d best use a declicker type of plugin, or the method I showed where you crop/delete the click and then cross fade 🤙🏼
@MNmusic2024
@MNmusic2024 2 года назад
@@5piece I tried cutting out the click and it worked brilliant solution 👌 as the declicker plugins makes the song have a diffrent feeling to me and I don't like it so much but there are hardware solutions like the ifi silincer and I hope it will be effective

Cool. I do voice over. i am currently working on a narration for some mental health manuals english and spanish 4 total. it's pretty overwhelming. the worse thing that i have been struggling with (especially since there is so much content) is editing. especially when i have loud or not so loud, but very noticeable clicks. some are caused by me (mouth clicks/saliva, lips etc), but others seems like they are originating in the recorder or in the signal chain ( i have even suspected my mic (sm7b) or maybe my voice is causing it depending on the frequency?? ) sometimes it's one or two and very obvious and i can zoom in and select and "repair" it in Audacity. sometimes it works flawlessly, others not so much. I usually record my lines or parts of lines 2-3 times so i can cut/paste etc if necessary. but certain words seem to cause it, which is why i suspect it could be originating from me/microphone, BUT other times it's inexplicable. the repair tool has saved me a lot of time and headaches, and from having to re-record stuff, but I had never used the pencil tool, i will try it out. maybe it can help in those instances where the repair tool doesn't help much or at all. sometimes it makes it worse. i need to run some test, with different recorder, cables, mics etc, and see if it happens all the time or just certain settings/conditions/equipment. good video.

I feel you on that! It can be super intricate work especially when editing longer batches of audio. You may want to look into some plugins that can help automate this process like a de-clicker or anything from the Izotope RX suite. Thank you for watching and best of luck!!!

If i can not find out where clicks sound is? What can I do?
@5piece
@5piece 3 года назад
Unfortunately you gotta use your ears and get good at hearing them. If you don't hear any, there's a good chance that you don't have this problem. I find it usually happens if you don't cross-fade audio correctly, or if there is some sort of glitch in D/A conversion in a DAW. The only potential solution I can imagine at identifying this problem is: 1) you could use a de-clicker plugin that will isolate (solo) the click so that's all you hear 2) put the de-clicker plugin on the sound you think has this problem 3) then solo and listen to it to hear if there are any 4) If there are, fix the problem with this video's proposed solution being one option (among others) There isn't much magic or cheat-codes here - just need to get good at identifying and solving the problem. Best of luck!

Not that I’ve seen so you’re next best bet is to manually find and edit/remove just the click OR invest in some sort of de-clicking tool like Izotope RX. If anyone has a better idea for Ableton I’d also like to hear it!

The only difference is the removal of the click, which was fairly subtle to begin with. There’s no change to the vocal sound itself other than that. Do you still hear the click?

While that has nothing to do with removing clicks from vocal recordings as far as I know….I agree. Connect the dots for me!!!!
