Here is a quick how to: remove paint ... Easy as cake but be careful when using acetone (nail polish remover) get an adult to help you! Thanks for watching Hope this helps and you all enjoy
I tried to use 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to remove some excess acrylic paint from a figure and very little paint came off! The bottle is old (Expired 7/2011), so maybe that had something to do with it? I don't want to use acetone, because you can see in this video how the plastic looks a little rough after use.
Hey dude, I just figured something out! You can take microfiber towel and do the same thing only faster and easier. I tried it yesterday. I took a yellow microfiber towel and dabbed some acetone on it then I started cleaning the white paint off of Bullseye body. It was so fast, and using my experience with acetone, I didn't damage the plastic at all. Keep it in mind and give it a shot, it's way easier than the Q-tip method. Plus you use less acetone. Oh yeah and the best part is that no little fibers get stuck to the plastic if you coat it with a little too much acetone.
Haaaa! Swiper no swiping! Man, I really enjoyed this. I was googling how to strip action figures and I liked thisnvid so much o went back to watch the whole thing.
Go for the cracks first, remember acetone is etching that plastic as well and makes the plastic have a dried “white” appearance. If you throw a black wash on the whole figure evenly usually everything looks even again.
Thank u so much! This really helps a lot! I was gonna use sand paper to remove the pink paint so I could have a "powered down" Black Panther. This really would really make my life better haha
Poundz, just wanted to say that using your technique, much better result for stripping paint than what I use to do. Thanks for the video and thanks for helping step my game up.
Thanks for these type vids bro!! I don't have an artistic bone in my body unfortunately but dig seeing the process! Would love to see ya branch out to other marvel characters, I didn't realize their were so many Spidey characters until checking out your channel. Keep up the good work man!
:0 just think of all the hard work those little Chinese children did painting those lines........;) cool info, I do 'custom' star wars figures using marvel stuff, and I'm getting ready to do "advance" stuff, off to watch your other vids :)
I just came across your channel randomly in my recommended, highly satisfied man, good personality, good content, informational on a subject I love. It’s hard to find good custom tutorials let alone a good channel based on it, happy new subscriber and good luck man bless up
That's official Poundz!!! I wish this video was out before I started removing the paint of my WASP figure. I used the same techniques and even the same acetone but I went in a little too soaked on her lower torso and those damn white hairs left by the Qtips are a pain in the ass. Oh well, c'est la vie!!!! Also found out the hard way to use the paper stem type Qtips. Plastic ones get eaten by that acetone. Thanks for putting this out there for us all!!! Appreciate you bro!!!
Dude love your videos. I just got into customizing but your video tips have helped me out a lot. Thanks btw haven't found a figure you have done yet that has not been amazingly well done.
You can dip in a bowl of purple power it will remove all the paint. leave in for a few hours than wipes away once you pull out much better than acetone .
Good video and hope your custom turns out well! don’t really get why everyone wants to remove the pink paint from this guy, that stuff glows under black light which looks amazing plus we see that glowing costume a lot in the movie. But to each his own!
Damn, Acetone? That doesn't harm the plastic of the figure at all? I spilt acetone on this plastic table once and it just started melting the entire table. The way I learned to remove paint was to soak the piece in 90% Isopropal alcohol for a few hours
Hey, I just did this to remove the paint from the belt buckle on my Beast figure because it was painted incorrectly, but now I'm worried if the nail polish remover might somehow eat the plastic.
Gonna be doing this on the same figure to make a Spawn custom. I did this a while back on a DCUC figure and found that the acetone also eats at the chest quicker because it's a different type of plastic used for most torsos on action figures, like I guess because the plastics is harder it breaks down quicker or something. that's just my guess though.
I know you should know it by now but be this message for all those who are in doubt. Acetone is quite volatile, if you want to save acetone and your health, use it in a well ventilated area and keep the bottle ALWAYS closed. Also acetone WILL MELT most plastics so only use it if you are very sure that the polymer you use it on does not reacts to acetone. Isopropyl alcohol works better without the plastic melting factor. Anyhow, use it in a ventilated area and VERY AWAY from any fire source.
Belze alcohol does not work better .... acetone will not melt plastic from a wipe with a q- tip... unless you let it saturate your plastic surface ..... Make a video and show me how better alcohol is when removing paint. I’ll def watch
Belze very true .. and i do appreciate your comment... and i also agree to ALWAYS keep the cap on the acetone ... maybe I’ll make a more in depth review
Ok I'm new at this I got a native American action figure and I just wanna costumize it into a. Spiderman regular normal Spidey but I'm using as paint remover with nail polish my mom's polish I try to swipe it like u. But I guess its thick as hell the. Paint. On this figure. Thanks for the. Video.
Thanks! Will use on my jawa sandcrawler, hasbro employed a dog to crap on it! Looks like yellow caca sprayed everywhere, this will definantly work cleaning this mess, cheers!
I use spray acrylic clear coat sprayed into a plastic cup and brushes or qtips. Safest way I've found to do it. The cheap shit in the blue cans where they sell apple barrel paint and other paints that shouldn't be used on customs is the best stuff to use. You won't take off plastic, just paint. Trust me, it works and won't damage anything at all.
Your videos have inspired me, I'm going to be making my first custom when the Black Series Han Solo from solo comes out, I'll be painting the jacket yellow to make a comic book version Luke Skywalker. It's simple but it's better to start simple right?
I have not seen the movie yet so it may look much better on the screen but this pink paint looks terrible in my opinion. You have completely redeemed this figure by removing the pink paint.
Thank you for the video tutorial! After removing the pink highlights, do i need to add any sealant to the same area? I just want a version without the highlights.
Hi. Your video is really helpful. I just got an Emma Frost action figure -the one with the black outfit- and her face has a little spot, like a little mole in her right cheek, and it has the color of her lipstick, which is blue. I was wondering, I guess the basic color the head is skin like color, so if i apply a little bit of remover, would that come of? or would the intensity of the skin color get affected?
You don’t have to remove the old paint The reason I did is cause I wanted to use the all black body without having to sand joints on a different color figure
Thanks for this vid.. would this method work well on Storm-Colectibles figures?? I'm planning on getting a MK3 Scorpion and paint him blue, cause I can't find a MK3 masked Sub-Zero that's not a ridiculous price
I almost got all the paint removed from the torso, but the paint on the chest on my figure was like not coming off, so I just decided to paint the chest instead.
