I used a CPA to help me, and he requested under IRS's first-time abatement relief. I have been on time paying for many years. However, after I retired from the US Army with over 20-years of service, life took a turn. The abatement was denied, and I paid total of approximately $108,000 for tax year 2021 that included late penalties and accrued interests. Luckily I was able to login to my IRS online account where I saw balance plus accruing interest. I paid in FULL. I hope this is the last of it so I can enjoy my retirement from the U.S. Army. Wished I saw this video. Thank you for your informational video.
@@CWHankerson I've done 1031-Exchange in the past to differ taxes. However, I was away on travels and Covid caused lockdown. Therefore, I was not able to do it. I wrote a check for $95K on April 10, 2023, and hoping the abatement will be accepted. However, when I login couple days ago, there's balance of $11,866.06 plus accrued interests of $665.34 that increases every day. I submitted online payment of $12,531.40 to pay it in FULL today. I earned my little money while serving and also invested some. I filed my taxes regularly, but this got me. Do you know if there are more charges to come even though I submitted online payment in FULL? Thanks and God Bless!

This happened to me. I paid the irs and they sent me a penalty with interest. I have the receipts and copies of when the money was taken out of my account. Yet its hard to get ahold of someone from the irs.
