Had to remove a guitar pick from the key bed of my Yamaha S90XS. This video just saved me. Thank you! Lesson learned, never let a guitar player near your keyboard. (OK, I was the guitar player that dropped the pick between the keys.)

Followed your directions to the letter. Thank you. It worked very well, after a couple drops of superglue on a broken piece of plastic. I also vacuumed the inside, very carefully, to get rid of dust, cobwebs, etc. without touching any electronics. Thank you for your video.

Worked really well for the Yamaha SY-88 too! I used a miniature hacksaw blade to pop out the keys. Only the the front bar is all of one pieve with the case so it doesn't fall off. Thanks for this it saved me time and money!

Thank you very much! Thanks to this video it was possible for me to replace a black key from a Yamaha CP4. One important detail; the end of the metal spring, first need to be adjusted in the inside of the key. Once this is OK, you have to push the key first a little backwards (you feel a little tension of the spring at that moment), and then click it by pushing it forewards. If you don't do this, the key will do what it has to do, but it will make more mechanical noise. With an easy test you can check if you did this right; when the spring is not where it should be, the key can be pushed +/- 2mm back and forth. Best regards, Dirk

Hi Scot, your vid helped me tremendously on fixing one of the sticky key on my S90ES. I always thoguht it was something beyond my capability. I found out the key was sticking because part of it was chipped off after accidently dropping seomthing on it long time ago. I glued it together with LocRite super glue and snapped it back in. Now it's working fine. I will have to order new key though, as I'm bit concerned about the glued part coming off again. It will be temporary.

Thank you for the instructions. I open my yamaha s90es for a sticking key and so what happen. When check the key nothing happen, it don't stick and flow normal like the others. I think the key was afraid to left the keyboard, I thing was the dust or something around the key that when I open it left. So thank you for all, When the corners need to be painted then I know to remove the cover. Was more easy than I think.

One other item to note - when replacing the key, you have to get the metal springy tab thing hooked under the very front of the key, then bring the back of the key under the plastic tab before snapping the key in place - otherwise, the key will not fit tight, and the key will slide forward and back just a bit.

+Jade Pascual - the only way to know for sure is to get into your keyboard and see what's going on. If the key doesn't go back up it could be the spring has slipped out of it's spot, could be that the spring broke, could be that something is jammed in there keeping the key from automatically returning, but the only real way to find out is to get in and look. If you're at all uncomfortable doing that, then take it to a repair shop because you could cause more damage by opening it up and/or removing keys in the wrong way.
