In this video I will show you how to get a knock out of a 4x4 square box. There shouldn't be any struggling with this and after seeing a 25 year master electrician struggle numerous times I have to say this need to be made.

So, I CAN'T run MC in to plastic box...can I run a Romex in to metal box? You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT, "electrocuted" means you were killed by electricity...WHY people confuse them, I don't know....well I do. It's because MANY heard it from somebody else who can't distinguish one from the other.
@MountaineerOutdoors
@MountaineerOutdoors Год назад
You can run mc into a plastic box if it has a knockout plug you can remove. And you can absolutely run romex into a metal box.

Funny and clever. Thanks. However, I can’t use your 14-in-1 as demonstrated because the side of the junction box is covered by drywall. Any pointers on that? Maybe a video demo? 🥴😎

If the metal box is already installed in a finished wall. Drill the circle you want to pull out, then drive a screw into it (or anything that will fit) and then start pulling and shaking the screw around. Eventually, the metal disc will pop out.

Do you have any tips on removing the 2-in-1 combo knockouts? I hate those. The ones that can fit both 1/2" and 3/4"? It's easy to remove the 1/2" but then the left over peace to remove to expand to 3/4" is a pain.

agreed. I'm about to start installing boxes and 3/4” conduit and at a loss for how to do this easily. just bizzare they don't have dedicated 3/4” knockouts that come of as easily as the 1/2” ones. just don't see buying a dedicated tool so i can install 4 boxes.
@ronaldchong
@ronaldchong Год назад
ha, i found an easy fix ... just buy, in the first place, the 4in box with dedicated (i.e., separate) 1/2” and 3/4” knockouts! lol. i found these when i went back to home depot to find a tool for those hybrid knockouts.
@stevenle1760
@stevenle1760 Год назад
@@ronaldchong I ended up just using some linesmen players and praying the little extra left over bit really hard. Hammering it with a screw driver does nothing but bending the box, found that out the hard way.

Can you make a video that explains things that are soooooo confusing?? Most of these metal electrical enclosures have knockout holes that measure 7/8th inch. But if a person wants to find a connector to go into that hole - for 14/2 romex - they are not going to find a connector labeled 7/8th - because the industry does not label them that way. If you would be so kind as to explain the reason for this - you would be the only person on youtube who has explained it. Sincere thanks!!

I guess it's the same thing as saying that you need to buy a 2X4 when really your buying a 1 1/2 X 3 1/2". Crazy how I never thought of that either. Good idea. Thanks for watching and commenting ☺

Sounds like you bought the wrong box, I've done the same thing myself thinking they were all the same. Good news is if you take it back to get the right one, you'll save a couple bucks because the ones with the bigger knockouts cost more in my experience.
