How to remove the headlight switch from a Mercedes W204 (C-class). Part 2049053304 or A2049053304. Symptoms are mis-selecting settings. Our right city lamp would come on if I set it to “0” sometimes.
VERY helpful!! Exactly the same setup on my GLK 350 ... which is no surprise since it's a spin-off of the W204. You saved me tremendous unnecessary frustration trying to disassemble trim for no reason!! Many thanks!!
Couple of points. 1. To release the switch assembly from the housing you have to spring two plastic tabs protruding from the back of the housing and then push them forward into the housing, then release the three spring clips on the side of the switch assembly to get it free of the housing.. 2. The reassembly isn't the exact reverse of the disassembly. Rotating the switch anticlockwise in the 'out' position does not reposition the light position indicating trim plate which has to be pushed in and rotated anticlockwise to lock position by hand. This can be done with the switch in any position. One final point. There are many model variants with this switch. If you're buying a new one, take a photo of the old one to compare to ensure you get the correct variant for your W204 model!!!
I just wanted to say thank you for the video...I saw the reach behind video and then I found yours but your video also help me another way. I saw that when you turned it on that the indicators on the bottom of the switch would light up and ever since I purchased this car, 2009 C 300 sport I don’t ever remember those indicators lighting up. Over the past few days my running lights have been on, they were stuck on and the green indicator would light up on the dash and my fog lights would never turn on and I always use my fog lights with my running lights so to speak and I never use the automatic setting. It’s been screwy over the past few days....once I saw your indicators on the switch itself light up I was like ah ha....maybe my switch is going/has gone bad...What made you replace yours?....Fingers crossed this is my problem but thank you so much for the video...
I had the same Problem, also i had the Problem that my normal light goes sometimes on and off. It is in the A automatical position. Is it possible when i change that what you show or is this another problem ? nice regards
Question, my light switch isn’t lighting up all the switch positions in the dark, like an led is off in the switch unit. Does it actually have a backlighting for symbols or no? Thanks
Hello, does anyone know where I can buy this exact 5 pos switch for the 2008 Mercedes c350. The dealer don't hv them. And all I see on eBay is the 4 position switch with the fog light togle switch in the side. 😭🙏
Anybody know how to fix it? Usually when they start doing this it’s because dust has gotten inside the sensors which bridge a little short connection of energy making it think to turn them on/ off. I don’t want to fuck with it and possibly brake it.
