In this video will will show you how to remove or replace intake manifold on Kia Forte K3 ( Cerato) generation 2012-2018 with the 1.8 engine or 2.0 NU engine. Kia Sportage and Soul uses that engine in some of their vehicles so the procedure should apply to it.

Thanks so much for uploading this! Very helpful indeed. Why on earth would KIA hide the fuel rail and injectors under the intake manifold? In my mind, this is just a horrible design and disservice to any DIY-er.

Because they're GDI engines. The spark plugs live at the very top of the combustion chamber so there's really no other place for them, most GDIs hide have them under the intake. I think some manufacturers have the injectors beside the spark plugs on the top, but the injector being out of the way and the spark plugs being at the very top, in the middle of the combination chamber makes them much more efficient. Edit...my mistake, this isn't a GDI this is the MPI engine (but the reasons I stated are why GDIs are designed like that).... probably did that for compactness or something. Maybe due to the shape of the intake manifold and head, it was the only way to get the injectors to be behind the valves.

I know this is a really old comment but I'm so confused I have to ask. Where? The injectors and fuel rail are literally right above the intake manifold. You can see them on the video.

Sweet. Replaced fuel injectors. I doubled my MPG. Remember to hookup your brake booster vacuum line, or you'll get very hard brakes 😅.

I got Kia Rio 2016, done Overhaul now I don't remember where the throttle body pipes go & another pipe from intake manifold where it is supposed to go do you have a diagram to help me

What is the function of the hose that runs from the valve cover to the intake air hose? Is this a second PCV?

Pcv is the one above cover, Another hose connect to purge valve The last one maybe the one you meant is actually not connected to valve cover, it's connected to brake booster pipe... It should be called vacumn hose

At 120k miles I now have to do this to clean up the carbon on the intake manifold runners and on the valves if I see any with a toothbrush and CRC... all while being homeless in the car and doing deliveries with it to pay bills because unemployment isn't enough at all.

Charcoal filter.. It's something to do with catching any unused fuel/air when the car is shut off..

What functin has this intake manifold? I've something like misfire at idle when engine is hot, knocking noise when is hot, engine shakes at 1500rpm (before there was also a shake at 3000rpm a mechanic at the dealer "fix" changing something about turbo pressure, but feel I've lost 50 horse power) and power loss until 3000rpm. Is a kia with 1.6 turbo gdi, no error codes. For dealer no codes = the car is fine (7 years warranty...) . It feel like vacuum loss for me. Recently I decide to change the PCV because I noticed my oil become black after 4000km and jelly sludge near 8000km. Magically my car was fixed for 4 days and cone back with same symptoms... I try to clean the PCV and the car run better, but not good like the "4 days". An the really strange thing is that the car run better not the last morning after cleaning, but after the evening when I was back from work. The onli difference from the morning was navi/stereo switch off and AC switch off. Could be a pwer issue from the battery or alternator? Sometimes I've a retarded (1/2minutes) door close when I press the button on handle (keyless). ■ Maybe touching the hoses close some holes for a while o I move some electric wire. ■ Could be a vacuum problem of the manifold? ■ Something related to manifold functionality? ■ Maybe the knokning noise made the knocking sensor mad? ■I had also a gasoline pump noise (zzzzzz) firsts days and after disappear

My guess is that your intake valves are clogged with carbon. These GDI engines are terrible for that especially turbos. You can either bring it into a shop for professional cleaning with walnut blast or try using a gdi intake spray cleaner and do that yourself. You won't get as good results as a walnut blast cleaning but it may help for awhile. Also install an oil catch can in your car. Helps reduce intake clogging.
