For anyone having problems with getting the plastic ring off: just turn it counterclockwise, like the cap of a bottle. Will come off smoothly and then you can pull it apart with ease.

Yes, that's the one tip that's really of value. That video is horribly filmed and doesn't show at all how it's disassembled at the crucial beginning.... But thanks for taking the time to inform us.

That stupid plastic ring didn't want to come off. But turning it counterclockwise it somehow gave up and came off. Stupid design, I almost broke it.

So before finding this video I accidentally turned my right clockwise which locks it in place. And no matter how hard I turned it counterclockwise it was stuck. I had to break the ring off in 2 pieces to get it off. So if your ring doesn't come off as easily as his in the video it may be locked into place. Try turning it counterclockwise before removing it.
