I just about cried when I finished this video, walked back out to the garage and popped one off with less effort than ever before in my 5 years of owning VWs and Audis. You sir are a gem.
After fighting to disconnect these VW connectors for years, I watched the video, walked out to the garage, popped the hood and disconnected the MAS connector in less than a second. Thanks for taking time to make this really helpful video.
Battled a connector to the diverter valve in a hard to reach spot for 45 minutes... after watching video took it off in 20 seconds. Knowledge IS power, thanks for sharing!
I spent a good 30 minutes prying and pulling on this clip. After watching this video I was able to get it off in less than 10 seconds. Thank you so very much for sharing this!!! ❤
I wasn't reaching for a sledge yet, but man I feel that pain. I thought about intentionally breaking each connector and zip tying each one. Pesky little clips ain't enough to describe these pain in the azzez 😁 I don't care how many hands u get in there, they are a pain. Plastic being heated up to 150 degrees plus under the hot sun with engine running then down to 0 in the winter these plastic clips feel super britte and stiff
hmmm nice tutorial🤦🏽♂️ but i broke the small tab that your supposed to pull back before watching. any solutions? i cant release the safety catch since the tab is broken , im stuck.
You are a life saver. I have been trying for the last hour to remove electrical connections from my brake sensor and brake fluid level sensor and hoping I didn't break them. Your solution works. Thanks.
I couldn’t get it at all, even watching the video couldn’t get it but when you showed on the car it helped. It seems when you press it and lift the tab, the tab doesn’t seem to move but just pull the connector up anyway with the tab lifted as well and pops right off! Thanks man!
took me an hour of trying to figure this out. 15 minutes of searching our video. 4:35 minutes in to your video walked out to my garage and it took 1 try. God send you are!
A thousand thanks for this, 45 minutes of struggling with one of these clips whilst trying to find answers online and after watching this video it took a second to undo. Thanks!!!
I have a question what if the little clip that you lift is allready broken then how can you remove it from the coil? Can you stick a flat screwdriver or pick tool in between the coil and ignition coil connector to remove it from the coil?
After puzzling for an hour with my MAF connector, I can across your video. Tried it and it immediately worked. You are worth more than your weight in gold. Thanks
Dude you just save my life I just spent an hour trying to get those clips off without breaking it I watched your video to compress first and then pull it out and it came off with ease thank you so much !!!
How do you get the connector off with a snapped clip? Previous owner was clearly an ape and now can’t get one of mine off? Shall I just pull it really hard or what
Thanks for taking the time to create this tutorial, found it impossible to remove injector plug cap before watching this to understand the technique to push before pulling to release! Thank you 🥇
It’s all about that compression step. This video explained and showed the simplicity of that method so well. Really thank you, made a nightmare job into a breeze.
I am working on my harley that uses similar d-connectors. After an hour of looking, pulling with a few choice words thrown in, I decided to head to youtube for some tips. Your video was the perfect tip to split this type of connect apart - thanks
Gday from Australia, Thanks for taking the time to make and post this vid. Audi connectors really have been a pain in the past. I’ll be working on the wife’s Q7 tomorrow and I can’t wait to try this. Thank you Sir, I owe you a beer, Cheers 🍻
So why bother waste your time commenting? You're all so ignorant. The guy gave you a detailed explanation of how the clips work, because obviously you don't know how to disconnect them. Be thankful he even posted a video for your dumb ***
After half an hour wrestling with a wiper motor connector that I couldn't work out how to get off, this video showed me the how to do it. Pushed it in while I pressed the clip and it came out no probs. Cheers!
I LOVE YOU MAN!!! I spent 30 minutes removing my Audi Roadster panels off and then 2 hours trying to remove the fuel control module connector. Finally got to your video and in 5 seconds BAM! All done..... Thanks
Mate, This is the best video on any platform! One i saw your video i was able to remove the connector in seconds, and that was after messing with the clip for sometime! I am now subscribed to your site!
Thanks!!! Was getting frustrated with a Beetle horn connector and saw your video. Came off in one second with no tools after compressing it. Lesson learned.
I was getting very upset with procedures that simply said "remove electrical connector" with no explanation of HOW. Awesome video! You should do more of these for the other connector types! I tried a couple of hours to remove it, then found this video and had my connector (high pressure diesel fuel connector on Diesel Porsche Cayenne) removed in 15 seconds! Thank you sir!
Thank You! Was trying to disconnect MAF sensor wiring to move the MAF’s and air ducts out of way to replace my VW’s twin Air Filters. Should be a 5 minute job, but there’s no room in there and the vacuum lines run atop the passenger side air box. I am getting low airflow codes in the VAG COM. Cheers.
Thank you sooo much! You wouldn't believe how hard this info is to find. People either understand how they work and assumes everyone else knows or like me couldn't for the life of me fugure out how to tske them off.
Omg. My brotha, thanks. Just wasted an hour and was trying to use the hook you told us not to use. My temp was rising which usually means ima break somethin. God bless
Omg...that foopin easy!!! Got to admit...I often don't want to work on my favorite ever cars just because of this simple problem that you explained so well that even in a difficult spot...it came out like butter!! Cheers mate!!! Subscribed to your channel!!💯👍
Dude! You have no idea how much swearing, shouting, punching I did trying to unplug one such connector. There was literally no space to use 2 hands. Your video saved my car from being punched into! :)
Thank you for the tip. I'm on the ground under my 2007 Touareg needing to reach up and unplug the speed sensor. Didnt want to break anything so looked up this info. This info is not even in my shop manual. Thanks so much. Push in, push down and remove!
OK - WHAT!!!!!! So easy. THANK YOU. Now if you could solve all other AUDI problems with a conscise, descriptive and educational 5 minute video.......Again thank you, so easy - knowledge is power.
Just bought a used Mk4 Jetta 1.8T for a good price last week, my first VW so wasn't sure how these connectors worked.. Thanks, probably saved me from breaking one in frustration. :)
After an hour and a half we couldn't separate a tab from a custom Eagle Eye light for Chevy S10 after watching this video and butchering it a little bit the connector I want up pushed it in which I tried previously but not to the way he shows and it came right off with my bare hands not the wrenches we all had out thank you for the video awesome brother
You're wrong about the pick trick because two of my levers were broken so after compressing and pulling a couple times, I pushed a straight pick in the middle square hole and it popped out.
couldnt get a good view of the connector(connecting door frame to door skin) while struggling to hold door up, stumbled across this video while looking for one to help me ID the connector type, thought no harm in trying and voila it was a d connector(easy to see once disconnected) and it came off EFFORTLESSLY with this technique, thanks
Wow, Thank you billion times for sharing such a valuable tip. I struggled a lot on my first day of part time job I started trying to take off connectors before removing the seats. Thank you and I subscribed.
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much. I was really struggling with removing the alternator’s connector on a Tacoma. I did exactly what you suggested, and it worked. Thanks again.
Thank you sooooo much ! I thought it was just ME cause I was a girl and just couldn’t do it but when I asked guys to help me they couldn’t do it ether ! I cried and didn’t know what to do then I found yr video. watched yr video and was able to do it in 2 seconds . ❤
My 97 VW Cabrio has wire clasps on these D connectors. Do I need to remove or unclip these supports before using your release trick? Oh, and thank you for this video!
Trick does not work. Coil pack connector is bottomed out with compression (probably a pretty hard o-ring), locking tab easily released and clear of the locking nub on the coil pack, connector is still frozen in place. Thinking this trick will not work if it's a daily driven car in a cold climate and not a tuner car being constantly wrenched on.
OMG, thank you so much for this little video, Chris, I was starting to get very frustrated with the air flow meter plug, but after watching your little video, it's just too easy :)
