Thank you so much for your excellent video. I just bought some cherries today and as soon as I popped one in my mouth, I felt this odd chemical sensation on my lips and mouth. Your video was very helpful. Another option would be to only eat organic fruit, but sometimes they are harder to find.
I am sure you can go ahead and add the vinegar...but the tests that were done showed that baking soda alone has great cleaning power against pesticides. www.americastestkitchen.com/cooksillustrated/articles/2075-can-baking-soda-remove-pesticides-from-produce
Does storing carrots and celery in water cause nutrients to leach out? Thank you for the information on the baking soda wash. I have been using white vinegar.
They aren't in the jars too many days. We like to eat them with dip, hummus or peanut butter. It's great for lunches or a quick snack and by putting them in cold water, they stay crisp. You may be right about the nutrients leaching out, Arlene. I am not sure. But I know we will eat them when they are crisp, but not so much when they sit in the fridge without water and start to discolor.
I find vinegar addition really helps to extend the life in your fridge as well. Everything from strawberries to parsley/cilantro lasts an extra week or two, and they more so dry out, instead of rotting.
This is great to know! Cilantro is a big one for me. We love it so I buy a few bunches each time I buy it, but then it starts to go bad. Thank you for taking the time to share.
The mixture I have been using for years is.... 1 cup water, 1 cup vinegar, 20 drops of Grapefruit seed extract ( buy in Health food store) Mix it in a big measuring cup then add 1 Tbsp of baking soda and stir gently. It will fizz up. When it has settled down pour into a spray bottle. I spray apples any kind of fruit and vegs. Rub them well then rinse them off.
Thank you sandy,i order some of the magnesium and vitamins that you take and I really like them and I will start doing this method with my vegetables and fruit so thank you but just a comment there’s still some of us that are struggling with fasting. I’ve been fasting forever and not losing an ounce and I don’t know what I’m doing right now. Do you have any helpful hints, I fast for 20 hours thank you so much. If you would reduce some of the fasting video she used to do to help us that would be awesome.
I wonder if it just won't work for you, Nancy? If it worked for everyone, everyone would do it. I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling so much. I'm not sure what the last sentence means by reducing some of the fasting videos.
The baking soda hack blew my mind lol I started washing with raw apple cider vinegar, now ill throw in baking soda. Thanks for sharing hope all is well with you and your family. God bless
Me too! I watched demonstration of the test strips and the baking soda was the only one that removed the pesticides. I am sure vinegar is very good too...but now knowing that baking soda is even better is great info. Thanks for watching!
I use the baking soda and water in different bowls and set a timer for 15 minutes. Definitely just a few minutes for raspberries. I find this process easier, because when I'm ready to make a big salad or any of the foods it's less prep time to eat 😋 like some of the other comments, I do not use the containers i bought them in. Another great video Sandy ❤
