Is scabbing normal after a hair transplant? Do you want to know how to remove scabs after hair transplant?
First, let us understand what are hair transplant scabs? Small incisions are made on the scalp during the grafting process. This causes the formation of scabs on your scalp and it takes a few days for the scabs to heal. Scabs usually fall off in 7-14 days. Sometimes these scabs do not fall off on their own, in such cases, you can remove the scabs by washing your hair. If these scabs do not fall off even after 10 days, consult with your dermatologist.
How to clean scabs after hair transplant surgery?
1) You can do a light massage on your scalp after 15 days. By this time the follicles are firmly attached to your scalp and they get proper blood supply as well.
2) Some doctors tell their patients to soak their heads in a bathtub. Warm water and baby oil are used for this. You have to soak your scalp for at least 45 minutes to help reduce the scabbing.
3) Gently massage your scalp only if the doctor has suggested a scalp massage.
4) Do not use your nails while massaging your scalp.
5) You should not pick scabs while massaging.
6) Avoid touching your scalp for at least the first 4 days after the transplant.
A lot of people also confuse scabs and crusts. They feel that both are the same. See, both scabs and crusts are separate things. Scabs are dried blood and crusts are dead graft tissue. Usually, scabs and crusts can easily be removed using shampoo. If these scabs and crusts are not falling off on their own then consult your doctor. They will be able to recommend the right medicine and treatment.

Hello Dr your videos are very helpful I had done FUE Transplant on 16/06/2021 I am 44 years old by 28/06 I have performed lightly massage with baby shampoo the area of transplant and I could see scap with very tiny 2/4 hair on my clothes whenever I gently massage the transplanted area , after your video I applied with soft hands shaving foam and many scaps fallout next day, summer is worst these days lot of sweating by 30/06/2021 - 90% of scap was fallen so could you tell me did I have lost the small grafts with massage or it’s the loose hair which Is falling from scalp, also my doner area I have started some nerve problem for which I am taking Tab pregad-M hs daily Pls advise on falling scap I can share pictures if required Keep up the good work Vishal pahwa

DHT is one of the main causes of hair loss, but other factors are also associated with it such as Nutritional deficiencies like Vit. B12, Vit. D, Iron, Calcium. Also Hormonal imbalances like irregularity in thyroid hormone, Telogen effluvium, in case of extreme physical or mental stress for which you need to do some blood investigations, to determine if the hair loss is due to above causes. My clinic did not help with the post op care and I ended up leaving scabs on my head for 4-5 months after my transplant. I’m 9 months down and can see the impact of taking the scabs out. I consulted with another clinic and they forcefully cleaned my scalp and told I would get my transplanted follicles back but the growth would be delayed by those 4-5 months as sprouting has been further delayed. Is this correct or did I lose my implanted grafts due to late scab removal??

Hello Dr Sachin, For my Friend, to remove dead skin and scab 9 days after HT the technician used Forceps. He was quite aggressive particularly on crown area. Hello Darpan, After FUE hair transplant you can resume your work, normal daily activities on next day it’s self by taking some small precautions like having a small hat and avoiding bumping on your head. Also, you can rejoin your work, start your normal daily activities immediately the next day. Sir it's my 12th day of fue hair transplant. I started to touching and scrubbing scabs soflty and gently on 8th day. These scabs had small hair in it without roots. I am quite worried about my result..

Sir recently i had hair transplant last week. But i didn't use Saline water . Just i took head wash after 5 days of HT .... Was that necessary to use Saline water ? As I didn't use. So kya ab muze use krna chahiye ? Please please reply me sir
