Don’t do this! After any download or restart the icons will have black boxes in them. the way to fix it is to go back to where you created the “29” string and delete it. then create a new string named “29” but leave the content empty. Hoped this helped!!

Im having the problem of black boxes in my icons. Any suggestions? I entered to microsoft site and followed some instructions in command promt but stills happening to me. They said that it happens due that modification corrupts the icons.

@@FreemanPR18 remove the %windir%\System32\shell32.dll,-50 and leave in blank in registry. Then restart windows explorer in task manager. It fixed it for me.

I did all this several times and after a day the black boxes appeared again .... then i deleted the string value and got arrows on the icons .... wth ...! So here the fix that worked for me this time - I created the "string" named "29" as the directions go, BUT then I left the Value Data blank. It seems to have fix my black box issue. Hope this helps - Thanks again Tutorials Home for sharing this thread ...!

If you still suffer from the black box over the top, after restarting, go back to the 29 file, remove the code and leave it empty. Completely solves it.

I have a problem, can you help please? So I would like to use custom icons for all shortcuts and if I remove the arrow it cuts out a big chunk of the custom icon from the bottom left corner. It basically looks glitched missing a quarter of the icon where the arrow was and now its just nothing there

BLACK BOX SOLVED.... Delete that '29' string > add that '29' string again but leave that command %stuff%whatever EMPTY > Reboot (fk'n stupid winshit)

i think this is only works in windows older version, i have windows 10 pro 21H1 version and this thing is not working, the icon arrows are turned into black frame looks very beired, so i deleted it, plz make video for newer version of windows 10.. wtb nice Background Music, i just fall in love of that bgm :D
