Surprisingly this worked. Daughter called me about her 2012 ford escape and the key would not budge. Did exactly what dude did and it worked. Car was off. Moved to Reverse, then down to lowest gear. Then real quick back to park. Key came right out. Thanks for posting this brother.

It worked. Thanks for this video. Mine was a little different thought. Didn't have a 1 or 2 on the gear shifter. And my car doesn't go in gear unless it's turned on. So I turned it on, put it in reverse, then drive, then back in park. Turn it off and boom, the key came out. Magnificent.

Took me a few tries but it worked. Patience and faith are keys to virtue. God bless!

Dude.... using a friend's car and we sat in the parking lot for like 20 minutes getting to get the key out...I was afraid to break the key off in the ignition.... checked you tube and bam it made sense... the phone holder was blocking the shifter from going all the way to park... so simple I feel dumb.... whatever...
