Omg I swear this video was the most helpful video!! I’ve watched plenty others n couldn’t figure it out how to do it..this was so simple and mine actually just slid right out no issues and I easily replaced the bulb! I was very proud of myself! Lol THANK YOU!! 🥰
After struggling for an hour and watching every RU-vid video let me tell you the easiest way to remove these wrethched tail lights. Unscrew the two nuts and uncouple the harness and then try and wriggle the lens free. If like me it does not slide out then get a lightweight nylon ratchet strap, the kind you can buy at Walmart, you may have one lying around your garage. Slide the strap under the pointed side of the lens closest to the front of the car- you may have to wriggle the lens while you are doing to get it under. Holding the strap taught at both ends above and below the lens gently pull it forward, i.e. towards the rear of the car and hey presto it comes away, easy peasy! I will cut and paste this on every advisory video for this.
Thanks. The 2017 looks a bit different but I assume it's about the same procedure. I'm not a big fan of having to disassemble the entire pod to change a bulb...this seems like they are trying to drive business towards their dealers at our expense.
Tip ..Leave the nut on the 2 bolts @0.40 and put the socket & ratchet on the TOP NUT and push toward the back of the car so the assembly kind of slides or pops out. The 3 white plastic pieces should stay on the car after removal of assembly (2 look similar from the most front piece). Don't try to remove these.
The problem is he doesn't tell you that you need to pry it out from the innermost corner. There's another video that shows you the right way to do it. I tried this guy's method and ended up busting the tail light because it's not as easy as he makes it sound. A couple of these videos you could tell the light has already been removed and reinstalled so don't be fooled it is a bear to get out and if you don't pry in the right area you will break it
repairED I found another video saying to put something at the far corner where the light assembly is on the side closest to the front of the car and push it towards the back of the car with a screwdriver. It worked!
@@zacmassey I know your comment was from over a year ago, but do you happen to still know what that video was? I'm having the same problem and can't find anything addressing it.
Best way to get this light assembly off without damaging anything is to remove the bolts and the rubber plug then take a long socket extension and place it in the hole against a flat spot make sure it's not against the light caps or anything you will damage. The hard clip holding it is under the narrow piece of the light if you wiggle the light lose and squirt a bunch of lubricant behind where the clip is it should release easier from the clip. Then cover the light in duct tape leaving some hanging at the back to grab and pull it backwards. When all this is done get 2 people one to hammer the extension from behind and the other to tug on the duct tape. It will take some force but it will pop out. I struggled with this thing for months until this worked for me. Good luck it's a huge pain really poor design.
