Nice video. About masking off the tyre: I've heard of a method where you put a small bit of hand grease (the stuff you put on your hands when they're dried out) right around the edges of the rim. This is easier to curve around the rim than with masking tape and you can easily wash it off with some soap and water after you've painted the wheel. Haven't tried it myself yet but it does sound like a solid method.
Awesome videos. Thanks for the fork rebuild videos. That’s my next project on a 1980 CX500 I recently picked up. Looking forward to the headlight installation. And the rest of the rebuild. Glad I found your channel
Thanks for your comments! let me know if you have any questions.Keep watching more videos to come. Rear wheel repaint part 2 is being uploads as the moment.
IF YOU EVER GET A CHANCE TO DO A VIDEO ON HOW TO WIRE A IGNITECH TO A 79 CX500( CDI bike )...PLEASE DO SO ! i just bought a 79 cx500 that had one but it was wired incorrectly and is missing certain pins etc.
Did you use a special kind of paint or just regular automotive spray? I know they make special "wheel paint" but not sure if its necessary and would rather use the paint I have for the other parts to match. Also how are they holding up?
I have 83 CX650 Custom.. as you know there isn’t a frame on the front of the motor. The motor hangs down from sort of backbone of the bike. With that being how it is,, any idea on how/where put cruiser foot pegs??? There’s 2 little spots on the motor(CX650 custom) any ideas or input b appreciated..
Yeah that’s what I’m thinking….. BTW thanks on the video & info on fork seal change.. I got mine done by watching your videos a few times… look forward to watching your future videos on the CX500 build you are doing,.
I'm having trouble putting my rear tire back on (82 Honda GL500). The axle is positioning itself lower than pinch clamp. I can shove the axle almost all the way in but when it gets to the larger diameter it's too low to line up with the hole. I've got the wheel on the hub and everything should be in line, but for some reason it doesn't want to cooperate.
Thanks for the video! Does the brake plate have any positive interface with the wheel but before reinstallation or does it float and sit in the right place with just the axle and spacer?
Excellent, they are great fun to work on, and quite simple. I haven’t put anything new out in several months as I’m doing a complete shop overhaul so I can do better content, but stay tuned more good stuff to come!
Yes you can use WD40 or something similar on the tire, but use a deck of playing ♥️♣️♠️♦️cards to go all the way around the tire under the rim. It works great!
Question I have to do the same process to get the Rear tire changed and should I wait to put the new differential fluid in it to after I get the tire changed or does it not make a difference
CX500 owner here.. tip when changing the rear axel oil , .. ride the bike for a few miles first that way the oil will be warm , makes draining faster and more complete .
