Removing the background without a green screen works pretty well. If you're doing this a lot, I recommend getting a green screen though. It's a little easier, doesn't cost much (green screens run as cheap as $15), doesn't tax your computer as heavily, and in my opinion gives a better result. @@science_tube You can achieve that also with Skype, I do it using the skype config preview and works pretty fine and not to CPU heavy.

I went through like 8 different videos claiming to do what you just did and all of them were only showing how to do it if you owned a green screen which is annoying considering the fact I specified "without a green screen" so great job its very much appreciated! This was great. Everyone is going nuts over scroll stoppers. What I would like to do is remove background from a video but keep certain elements. For example, if I had a video of an elephant walking horizontally across the screen in the jungle, I want to remove the jungle. This would leave me with what I could use in a separate track as a scroll stopper.

Thanks so much for this tutorial. I have tried a physical green background cloth but removing it was a disaster because I dint have a proper lighting. I might still use mg greenscreen cloth but this virtual greenscreen is a very good option for quick video clips recording. Thanks.

before i found this video i was using an application called ChromaCam and that was super CPU intensive and it also bled through a lot, it's useful in a pinch but if you have Zoom or Teams installed this is by far the best method to use, Thank you Kevin for teaching us this P.S. if you want to minimise the dead space to the left and right of you (or if you get the meeting controls showing up on screen) just right click on your OBS source and edit transform and just mess around with it until you get the right amount of spacing that you're happy with

Kevin, you should try using a virtual camera such as Snap Camera which allows you to have a virtual green screen and frees up your video conferencing software so that you can then use it to show your OBS output in Teams/Zoom/WebEx etc.

This method does a pretty decent job. I noticed some background bleeding, around your head especially. If you were to use a true green screen, would the results be better?

Yeah, actual green screen outperforms this, but then you need to invest in a green screen.

Hi thanks for the follow up on ZOOM background as I explain that I have New Microsoft Surface with Windows 365 I go to ZOOM AND turn on the zoom Background but I get shaky picture and smudgy background and it’s give command that “Your computer doesn’t meet the minimum requirements to use the features without a green screen background “ pls advise what I can do to work zoom background without green screen thanks

Hi there! Great video man, just what I needed. I have a question. I am screening myself with the laptop camera which cut off the top of my head and does not render a good quality image of my face like it shows in your video. Is that due to a low quality of the laptop camera? I have noticed that if I lift up the laptop my head gets less cuto off but still it is not as good as your image. Can I ask you for a suggestion of what camera I should use to get a better image and maybe how to switch the source camera from the laptop one to the new one I woul buy based on your suggestions? I wanted to learn how to cut my background so that it’s just me and the video! And it worked! Thanks! I have a MAC and work with streamlab as os... so I was able to still follow along because I have prior knowledge
