In this video we make it easy, I go over the most important checklist in pulling your 300zx engine. VG30dett/VG30de things I use: venom nitrile gloves amzn.to/2WOjz32 ratchet straps amzn.to/2Zo9knD Garage floor mat amzn.to/2TrcuDA
90 ZX 2+2. Owned for 9 years. Dealer raised service rate to $200 ph. My indepencent performance Nissan garage in Fort Lauderdale is untidy and I got my car back with a scratch and dent. Do any of yall have a good Z Car repair shop in South Florida. Preferably Broward?
What is wrong with your engine? What do you plan to rebuild on it? I have a '95 twin turbo 5-speed and am planning to remove my engine in the near future. My car runs fine, and even passes smog, but the compression ranges from 90 - 120 for all the cylinders, and leak down ranges from 25 - 35%. The motor doesn't pull hard; it doesn't feel like it's 300 hp LOL. I was lucky enough to ride in a brand new '91 Z32 TT when I was 16, and I remember it pulled hard. It was fricken fast for its time. I remember the driver even chirped it up to 4 th gear, but in mine, I can't even chirp in second. I can feel the wheels break a little loose, but the the motor feels weak. 106K miles.....Good video btw!
I think the fuel system was messed up and messed up the pistons rings ultra low compression in most cylinders, smoked a lot and burned really rich so I’m going to try and re ring it and get this engine at 100 percent again.
Hey y'all. How many hours of Labor do y'all think, ball parked to replace the motor and swap some parts like the exhaust manifolds, new water pump, egr valve, motor mounts and motor brackets etc. Fill the radiator up and bleed, new oil filter plugs etc? All data says 19.6hrs. I call bullshit. 1991 300ZX N/A Z32. Couple other things, the dipstick is on the opposite side, heater hoses are different, few vacuum lines are different. The motor must be a different year or something! The dip stick in the replacement engine W/ 50k on the motor. Supposedly. Well said dip stick... Not the tube, is 100% caught up in something? Guess I'll have to pull the pan as well. F& CK!
It depends… on your budget you skill level and everything honestly in my opinion if your buying a z without and engine that’s a perfect opportunity to do an engine swap. If your gonna by a vg30dett the engine prices get are pretty high then you have to include shipping. If you absolutely want the vg30dett I would get the ok z with the engine already if it doesn’t have any issues you can focus on either upgrading engine components or worn parts on the z. Hope this helps.
Ohio Redneck had to lower the subframe as the oil pan did not clear, I’ve seen videos of ppl not having to and having to remove not sure as to why honestly but in this one I actually had to drop it low.
When you pull the vg with the trans, the weight allows it to clear the subframe angled. I’ve only done it twice but unbolting the driveshaft and pulling it with the trans is much easier 👍
Ohio Redneck honestly it may be the lift you have I only have a one ton I wonder if with a two ton you get a higher angle, I know if I was able to pull it straight up it would come out not sure if that’s it.
