This is all well and good if your files are all named in sequence at the beginning. What happens if you have a bunch of files not named in sequence. Dumb on apple’s part if you ask me. In Windows you simply select all your files in the folder. When you click on rename, the entire name of all the files come up. You rename them “A” ,for instance, and they come out A(1) through A(100)...etc. very simple.

Can't do this with the Finder rename function. To achieve extension stripping (not recommended, better use "hide extension" in Finder's window information) you'll need a specialised app as www.exifphotoworker.com
