How To Renew Your Nigerian Passport In The UK

Step 1: Get your NIN:
• register and or pay for NIN at a centre close to you. Find list of centres here: nimc.gov.ng/uk-enrolment-cent...
• For your appointment, you will need your passport.
• Your picture will be taken so you might want to get a trim.
• Have a printout copy of your NIN
• Once you have your NIN you can pay for your passport renewal.
Step 2: Apply for passport renewal.
• To make a renewal application, you have to go to the Nigeria Immigration service website: portal.immigration.gov.ng/pas...
• Then select standard ePassport, select your processing country UK and start application.
• Login using your email address and acknowledge data protection policy.
• Fill out the application form with your details.
• Pay for your passport
• Print out a copy of your application form and proof of payment.
• You will also need to make note of your application ID and reference number which will be given. This will also be emailed to you with your receipt.
Step 3: Booking your interview appointment
• To book your appointment, go to the Nigerian High Commission website: www.nigeriahc.org.uk/
• Click on immigration - Book Appointment for ePassport.
• Type in your application ID and your reference number from the previous stage.
• Select an application slot NB: pick a day you are free all day as this could take a while
• Make sure to print appointment booking slip.
Step 4: Prepare for your appointment:
• Make sure to print out all the documents from all applications: NIN, a copy of your application form and proof of payment and appointment booking slip.
• Administrative fee of £20.00 United Kingdom Postal Order made payable to the Nigeria High Commission, London. You get this from the post office.
• You are also to come along with a stamp Royal Mail C4 special delivery envelope to enable the Mission to mail back your passports as there would be NO physical collection once the biometric has been taken. You will have to write your name and address for where the passport should be delivered to on the envelop, this can be done on the day
• Expired or current passport.
• Pen. You will have to fill out some forms.
• Optional You may require passport photographs of yourself but when I went, I was not asked. My photo was taken there so again, get a trim!
Step 5: Appointment Day
• If you booked the 9 am slot and you want to leave there as quickly as possible, get to the embassy before 8:30 am the latest. There will be people queuing from 7 am.
• Bring water, and snacks and keep warm.
• If you forget anything, bring enough cash to buy things like postal order. DO NOT FORGET YOUR APPOINTMENT SLIP OR PROOF OF PASSPORT PAYMENT.

Quick Update: Good and Bad News though. Finally got mine through the post this morning. I applied for mine 25th of October and even at that I spent over 4 hours in that place. I was originally told it would take 3 weeks but I didnt get my passport back until 6 weeks later - 8th of December. Whereas those that had appointments around August and September got theirs back between 2 to 3 weeks later. The issue date on the passport was 1st of December. So it took them a full week to even post it out, can you imagine. My passport got delivered via Special Delivery Royal Mail. 8th of December 2022. I applied for the 10 year 64 pages validity one which thankfully was what I received. I know someone that went there a few days ago and she was told that it would take 2 months - February - for the processing. Good luck guys. Now I dont ever need to go back to that place for another Decade - 10 full years God willing! Phew!

@@Fidencious hello, sorry to hear that, I just use my Santander bank card to pay for it which was converted to dollars. Am not familiar with monzo and metro bank card, maybe try other banks card if you have any or ask family n friends to help out. I received my passport by post on the date stated for receiving it. QUICK UPDATE: As I said I went for my appointment on the 11th of November and although the collection date they gave me was the 10th of Jan, I had my tickets for Nigeria booked for the 18th of December so I was really praying my passport would come before the collection date, it did not 😩. On the 16th of December, I went to the high commission very early with the intention of not leaving until I get my passport. I don't have a British or any other passport so my only hope of getting to and from Nigeria was my Nigerian passport. I was fortunate enough to get my passport on the day and this was honestly by God's doing. When I got it it said issued on the 4th of December, so from the 4th to the 16th they still hadn't posted it, and I wouldn't have gotten it in time for my trip if I hadn't gone in. Here are some of the things to note if you want to do the same. 1. Be very nice and polite - I was asking for my passport before the collection date they gave me, so I had to come begging. Even if you are coming for collection after your collection date there is no point going in hot cos they will also show you madness. 2. Have your collection slip printed out. You will not get a response if you don't. 3. Don't come in early, they only started attending to passport collecting after 12:30pm and I was there from 8am, IN THE FREEZING COLD! 4. Be ready to stay there for a while, I did not leave there until 4pm. Luckily we were allowed to wait inside for most of it. 5. Again be polite, trust me these people are frustrated enough as it is, most of the people that came shouting did not get their passports. Hopefully this helps ☺ I had a great time in Nigeria!

I tried this… my appointment was on the 14th Nov 2022, literally a day after yours. Collection day says Jan 11th. I went there on the 11th Jan to collect it and I was told it’s only just been sent for production lol. Albeit, I did the 10 year(64 page) one, perhaps reason for the delay, I really don’t know. I don’t know how you did it but you were indeed very lucky to collect it the same day. I even tried n give bossman something so that I won’t have to wait hours to collect it, only to be told it’s not ready haha (PS; didn’t get my £ back 😅) Told it’ll be ready n posted to me in about 3 weeks, I won’t hold my breath… Anyways guys, good luck to yous that are planning on getting your shit done 😊

You can go to a local police station in your area if in the UK and report your passport missing.They will document it and give you a paper stating you lost your passport,stamped and signed.You then take it to the embassy.I did that for mine 6yrs ago when i lost my naija passport.Good luck.

Thank you so much, I watched this video and I was able to get information I needed from getting my NIN change of name to passport renewal. Your video really helped. I did capturing and biometric for my passport on 23rd of February 2023 and today made it 4 weeks but I haven't received my passport. I went online to track the process and I realised something like"❌ pending for NIN verification" Please do it mean my NIN is not yet verified or what? Someone should explain to me and confused.

Hi Nathalie. It could mean that some details in your NIN doesn’t match the details on your passport. For me, it was that I used my middle name as my first name for my passport but on my NIN application it was the other way around. You might want to check this

They did not ask for my slip or proof of NIN. I believe the number will suffice as long as it is valid and your names on the passport and NIN tally.

I wouldn't stress too much, those 2 forms should be enough. You will need your appointment slip to get into the door and as long as you have that and the other documents you should be ok God willing.

Is there a passport shortage in Ibadan?? I have a fiancé that applied for a passport since October and has yet to get his passport yet so is he just lying about issues over there or what?? Please let me know

I am not sure. My passport was not expired when I did my biometrics, but they need your old passport at the point of doing your biometrics and I believe they will return it after as they did for me after I was done.
