Which one of the 5 option do you think is best?

As you said, first I would book in airbnb and than, while there, slowly go for the second or the third options

Thank you for this video lol. I was looking at rental apartments in Istanbul and there is really no average prices some can be very affordable but still nice looking but some can be comparable to here in Hawaii. Also nice shirt btw
@Livingabroadalex
@Livingabroadalex 3 года назад
Thank you! I saw the maple leafs and had to buy the shirt 😏 You're absolutely right about not having an average price in Istanbul. There is a big prices range. Depending on how close you are to the water, or the city centre. Sometimes they're even more expensive in Downtown Toronto. But as a whole, you can find some really good prices if you don't care for some of that small things. So it really depends on your life needs. For me I just wanted to be close to cafes and restaurants and in a progressive and young demographic. I had another apartment much closer to the water but the seagulls woke me up very early every morning. So I moved 😁

I heard we gotta choose real estate agents as the owners may just be posing as owners and not really genuine. Pls comment.
@Livingabroadalex
@Livingabroadalex 2 года назад
Depends on how long you'll stay. May not make sense to pay agent fee. Also always ask to see proof of home ownership and sign. A lease. You can then take your lease to nearby notary and confirm with them who the real owner is

I just discovered your channel and like your way of detailing things. So far I have watched 3 videos and am continuing to watch the rest. I subscribed and Liked all that I watched. One thing I wanted to ask you, how a visitor use the washroom while roaming around the city and eating all these nice foods the whole day lol! I wanted to know about this. Please let me know about this. Thanks once again.
@Livingabroadalex
@Livingabroadalex 3 года назад
Thank you. I did the same for your channel 😊 There are public washrooms at parks and near the subway stations where you pay one or two Lira you can use your Istanbul transportation card or just pay cash. Also some cafes and restaurants like KFC or other chains like McDonald's have washrooms. Maybe just grab an ice cream and use the washroom there.
@touringthecitywalking9209
@touringthecitywalking9209 3 года назад
@@Livingabroadalex Thank you. What about the mosques? I am a Muslim and can use there. I hope these mosques keep their washrooms open, unlike here in Toronto, they still don't.
@Livingabroadalex
@Livingabroadalex 3 года назад
I'm not 100% sure but i believe the mosque washrooms are open to the public. I've seen people go in and out rapidly and freely, so i assume it's open ans free for use.

Thank you Alex. What a great video! Explained many vague points for me. But there is another problem, let's say I used sahibinden to rent an apartment, apparently (in my case, for staying a year) I need to first check the document to make sure it is not commercial property and also register it with something called a noter. would it be possible or should I use another method?
@Livingabroadalex
@Livingabroadalex 3 года назад
You're welcome! I appreciate it 😊 When you say "staying a year" do you mean you'll be applying for a 1 year Tourist Visa? If so, then yes you need to have a 1 year rental contract and take to to a notary to have it notorized.
@Arash_rtx
@Arash_rtx 3 года назад
@@Livingabroadalex Thank you Alex, I was just watching your recent video about your apartment. Really amazing, I hope you keep up the excellent job man. Yes, I am going to apply for a tourist visa. Greate, so using sahibinden for example, how are we going write the 1year contract? at the note or at some other agency?
@Livingabroadalex
@Livingabroadalex 3 года назад
Thank you again for the positive feedback. If you're going to rent through any place the owner or the agent will give you the one your contract when you make the deposit and agree to rent the place. Then you take that one year contract that's written and signed by you and the home owner, to your nearest public notary(just type notary into Google maps) and pay between 125TL and 200TL lira depending on where you go to have it notarized. Basically confirming that you are renting from the owner for that period of time.

Apartment prices as sky rocketing and you'll be lucky to find anything under $300 USD in a decent neighborhood in Istanbul. Not to mention as a foreigner prices will be high and especially if you want to rent on a monthly basis.

Those apartments are are at the top of the page as ads. They are misleading. They are either not furnished, in neighborhoods where it is far from city center. Require long term lease agreement, are through agencies, require 3 months deposit. Or simply are a shared room in a house or 2 bedroom apartment.
