Beautiful ❤ I was actually looking for a vintage sewing machine patching for stretchy materials, but this is beautiful, requires only yarn and no need of a machine. No waste, less need for new materials. I also like the look of very visible mending, specially because it helps spread the word and wear it with pride. Thank you! 😃

@anotheryoutuber7496
@anotheryoutuber7496 Год назад
You can try finding a piece of fabric that matches that texture of the shirt. Make sure it is the color of one of the colors that's on the shirt (don't try to match the same color where it's ripped). You have two options: 1. Make the hole into a heart shape. Get a piece of fabric that matches the texture and cut it into a heart that's slightly larger than the cut-out that's on the shirt. Sew the edges together. (You can try sewing it with alternating colored threads that match the colors of the shirt). Take your time sewing it, a little each day, and make sure the edges are sewn together so they don't fray. Or, 2. Get a piece of fusing fabric and attach a piece of fabric that matches the texture of the shirt. VERY lightly iron the fabric on the unwrapped side of the fabric ( You just want to hit it up enough where it's slightly sticks together. You don't want to bond it yet because then the adhesive on the backing will melt). Then, cut it into a heart, and then remove the paper and fuse the heart to the shirt. From there, you can add a few stitches to keep the edges grin fraying, or you can get colored fabric glue and apply it to the edges (use a thin line first, and you can add more once it's dried, if needed). Keep in ming that step 1 is more difficult, but will produce a softer inside, which may be important to you - because you won't want to wear it if it's irritating. Step 2 is a lot easier and faster, and you can buy a lot of pretty colors that match the shirt. Good luck.

There is a big hole in the hood, and she gave it to me for mending, even though I don’t sew garments. 😳🤦🏽‍♀️ Now I’ll be able to repair it and get it to my son at university in time for cooler weather. ✌🏼💜🛼

Wow, about how long did this mending a big hole take? Thank you so much.
@slowfashionstyle
@slowfashionstyle 6 лет назад
Hi Cindy 😃 It took me 2 hours. I've noticed the more I do the technique the faster I work. But a lot depends on the size of the hole, the size will determine the approximate time it will take to mend any type of hole. It's a great technique, I highly recommend it 💖 If you find yourself mending a very big hole lets say more than 5 inches you could patch it and then do this technique on top to reinforce the area, give it this texture and take your time working on it.

I am very new to embroidery and I have a book with the different stitches and I still couldn't make this. It would have been helpful if your thread was a different color than the garment because you can't see what you are doing! I guess I'll just patch my bedspread because I can't keep up with anybody because they go too fast and describe things that you don't know what it is like backstitch for instance, vi knew it was a stitch but I don't know how to do many of the stitches. I'm going to go back to machine sewing!
