@@gellieswan9122 😂 we have done it in a contrasting colour to make it easier to see the technique, if it is on flat colours with matching threads then it really can blend in and repair a hole.
Great video thanks for taking the time. I have a lovely piece of expensive fabric I am gutted to find holes. Will freeze and assess. The captions are not bad on a computer maybe just small device. I have seen a User can change the back ground of the CC settings to a black bar with the white xx
Thanks you for this video! I had never heard of the felting technique before, pretty cool. I needed this, because I've got a beautiful wool tartan with a lot of tiny holes, so I'll get a lot of practice darning hahah
we have done it in a contrasting colour to make it easier to see the technique, if it is on flat colours with matching threads then it really can blend in and repair a hole. Also this video is aimed at beginners who can do this at home themselves, if you really want to see an impressive advanced repair you should check out this Japanese technique ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CH5myvMh5rw.html ...Mind Blowing
this is two commonly used techniques to repair holes, we have done it in contrasting colours and on big holes to best show the technique but if you match the thread or felt the colour of your garment it can really blend in. Also these techniques are meant to be accessible to people with no sewing experience, if you want to get it to look brand new you need a professional mender. We are just hoping to get people to make some small repairs and keep some garments out of the landfill.
There is no need to use contrasting color fabrics for a video used to show the repair of an obvious hole. It makes it appear you don't know how to make the repair unnoticeable, which is precisely the reason why someone would be watching the video. You're also repairing a black and white patterned jacket where better repair techniques exist.
Having captioning instead of voice over for a visual demonstration is a terrible idea. Th viewer cannot read the description and watch the demonstration at the same time.
No we are not joking, we believe all people should have OBVIOUS black patches on their clothes........or if you look at 0.56sec it reads " we used black thread so you can see it (the technique) better but use a colour that matches your garment" so it will blend in better.
LMBWAO! I truly DID laugh out loud when I read this comment! This video utilized some pretty obvious contrasting visuals to SHOW all the components of the repair in order to help people, especially beginners, to truly be able to visualize all the steps of a repair. I understand that the repair's appearing quite obvious served an important purpose for this video, therefore I'm not criticizing, but having said that, I had the same thought as you when I saw the result of the felting. 🤣 [10.13.2023]
This is the 5 minute crafts version of how to patch. Im surprised you didnt say "one way to patch is just pour hot glue all over it." Your suggestions didnt match or blend in, but i guess they technically fulfilled the criteria for being considered patched?
