Sorry for late reply If your phone fails or stuck you just put it on the recovery mode to do this you need to Hold the power button and home button together but make sure you phone is connect to your laptop or PC In till you see usb or apply log on your phone Then let go, this is called the recovery mode then the laptop will pick up your phone then you can update or restore

Plug your phone into your charging cable then press and hold the power and home button depending on your model of iPhone until you see it go into recovery mode. When you see the recovery mode indication on your screen unplug from the wall charger and plug into you iTunes device then began your restore or update.
