I'm a student and I don't know very much about cars, but after I watched your video about changing the shock absorbers I managed to change them on my 1995 Toyota Corolla and saved a lot of money. So thank you!! :-D A few days ago I started having a problem with my 1995 Toyota Corolla 4E-FE. It's very cold where I live in Northern Norway (-20C), and after I start the car and when it starts to get warm (maybe after 5 min on idle) the RPM starts to go up and down like in your video. This will last for maybe 5 minutes and then it stops and idles like normal. So when I watched your video I thought it's probably the idle speed sensor. But what is very strange is at the same the heater stopped working inside the car. Only cold air comes out now, even when the engine is warm. So after I filled more coolant, the heating is working again! Now I'm just wondering if I have a leak with the coolant. I'll check again after some days if it is gone again. I changed the water pump last summer, so it is new and shouldn't be leaking. Tomorrow when I do a cold start I will see if there is the RPM problem still, maybe it is also fixed :-)
I love all your videos. You taught and help us to fix our own cars and plus save $$$. Can you do a video on seal transmission on Toyota? I don't find a lot of information on how correct way to do seal transmission on new models.
Get a can of starting fluid spray around vacuum lines under the hood. If rpms raise in a certain areas that’s your problem. I wouldn’t suggest taking sensors and lines off like he is in the video
Hi Peter, Big fan of yours. My question is this. I have a manual transmission and when I'm coming to a stop and put it in neutral, the tachometer bounces between 1000-2000 rpm for a few seconds before it goes into idle. It drives fine and doesn't bounce around any other time except when in coming to a stop in neutral. I cleaned the throttle body with cleaner. No check engine light or codes. Know what the problem might be?
@John Rae Sampaga thanks, I did pull it out and use MAF cleaner. It didn't really look dirty at all. Maybe it's just old and worn. It's literally been like that since I got it 2 years ago.
Hello I have a 98 Nissan Maxima it’s idles bad when sitting but most of the time when driving it’s more smooth very little idling the ac/heat blower fan doesn’t work when the ac is turned on you can hear it but no air is coming out I’ve replaced the misfiring ignition coil I’m abt to do spark plugs but I’m wondering what might be the real problem also I sometime smell gas when I start it or after I’ve parked the car my car also had a reading of codes p0304 and p1320 I replaced the 4 ignition coil now I’m getting p0110 p0300 and p1320 please help me

i have opel corsa type c 2003 one liter when i drive that car on moterway upto 60 miles its start missing and rpm up and down and maintainhence sign come on meter but after few minutes its normal and maintainhence sign still display on meter until i turn off the engine i showed to my mechanic he check the codes with computer and it showed that there is misfire in cylinder 3 we change the coil but have still same problem when i restart the car its start normal and maintainhence sign disappear after few minute
i agree with you those bolts are hard to come off i had to use a drill and drill them and put new screws 😅😅😅 took me almost 3 hours trying to take them off and finally gave up and drill them 😂😂
I have a VW cc with a similar problem with the check engine light on and when it drives the idle it too high and basically drives itself and when I’m in park the RPM’s go up and down very similar and looking myself I found a vacuum hose completely missing u think it could be this hose causing all the problems or in the throttle body

I got a Toyota Camry 1999 model with a confirmed P0340 and a pending P0116, P0773 code. The symptoms the customer told me were: engine stalling while on motion and during that time the car just wouldn't start because the engine was very hot but when the waited for an hour or more the car later started. What I noticed was that the car revv high intermittently on it's own but will return to normal idle again about 5 second again, and the exhaust tailpipe was really darkened when I put my hand. I couldn't check anything further because it was raining heavily. Plugs, fuel pump and a relay( the don't know where the relay was removed though) was replaced by another engineer but the problem still persist. Please how do I fix this problem? Will replacement of part like camshaft position sensor fix this problem?
hi Peter I have a 1.4 vvti manual Corolla 2006. my car was fine but after cleaning the throttle body my rpm is jumping up and down at idle. if I am driving down the road and press the brake to slow down the rpm will jump and jerk the car forward. I have sprayed carb cleaner around throttle body to look for vacuum leak but nothing. I have disconnected the battery overnight to reset ecu and that didn't work. can you help please?

Awesome video My Corolla only does this when car is running for more then 3 to 4 hours after fan kicks in 3 to 4 times then this starts after 30minutes it goes away been doing this for a few months could it be a different issue 🤔
Hi I recently purchased a 2010 Toyota Avensis 1.8 v matic with 48000 miles on the clock FSH. This is the problem I got: when driving in any gear this happens: while slowing down to a stop I apply clutch brake gear into neutral car stops rpms drop to idle 800+- and then rpm shoot up to 1200-1500 rpm then back to idle. Is this normal? Is this specific to car? Rpm never changes only as described car drives ok no issues. No engine management light.

Darn it! I just replaced throttle body and cleaned manifold! 🙃 Last year replaced the stupid speed sensor 🤦🏻♀️ Could it be my computer is not adjusting? I ran her on the interstate and everything. I did just switch out my alternator (well a friend did - I don’t do alternators lol) I’m out of ideas. Has to be the darn traction messing with my computer. She literally threw me out into traffic last year when I had it on 😳 Evidently it happens! Yukon! Ugh!!
My toyota corolla 96 automatic is vibrating pressing break while on D gear. I change already my engine support tension wire and sparkplug. And my rpm is 1100-1200 when in P gear.

I think it was too high, I have about 1,500 RPM cold engine, however upon reaching the normal temp of the engine, the RPM will stay the same It doesn't go down. What possibly the problem? I have a 2007 Lexus IS250 and am having same issue with my car. It seems to only occur when i am at a stop light at a complete stop. If i switch from drive to park, the idle resumes as normal and stays at the number 2RPM. Once I change back from Park to Drive, my Idle will slowly go up and down.

Yeah, I replaced the rear oxygen sensor with a genuine one from an identical Toyota Corolla. I did buy another oxygen sensor online and tried that but it gave the same idle issue. So it’s best to get a genuine Toyota oxygen sensor and maybe your mechanic can try swap the rear oxygen sensor with one from another old Toyota to test this. Also it took me a long time to figure this out as people online on all the forums said that the rear oxygen sensor on the exhaust pipe doesn’t matter but they are all wrong it clearly did matter in my case. Hope this helps

at 6:14 if you look carefully, you'll notice two cuts that the - teeth of the vice - left on the previously smooth gasket surface (see time 3:03). Two pieces of wood is an easy way to prevent that.

I adjust my idle to 1000rpms , after some hours the next time I put the engine on the revs are low and it won't run or the revs go pretty high . Can I blame my throttle?

Iv heard it’s spark plugs and then someone else told me fuel injectors I have an 08’ BMW 328i sedan it’s going up and down like crazy when I am stopped at stoplights.

I have a car RPM also like that up until 2000 then drop until about 700, but engine no increase speed or vibrate or drop speed, no rough idle~ i wash throttle body, Idle Air speed sensor valve, disconnect battery negative still same. when off A/C, or put gear also same jump up and down, but i accelerate the rpm will become ok (no suddenly jump up). This happen when the car start after about 1 min will come out. Last time i just replace Ignition coil and plug. all original, also change, a few day become like that... Help me~ what happen? what i should do?

Hi, I know this video is from 2017. I was wondering if this will also fix 2 problems I am having. I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla LE 1st, My cars idle tends to shake and seems to lose a little power when I am just at a stop or when I go in reverse. No one can seem to find out why this is. 2nd, Today my Idle RPM gauge went up and down very fast non stop 4 times in a row while just sitting in park. After it did that the car went back to normal. This is the first time that has ever happen. I'm am wondering if replacing this should fix these issues or does it sound like something more is going on? Thank you
