Peter Finn the Car Doctor hello how are you doing Mr. Peter I have a 2008 Infiniti QX56 Jeep and one day the Jeep started malfunctioning the two side mirrors would open and closed every time the Jeep is started and the reverse cameras would come on when the Jeep is in drive and you please help me? The Jeep would not start so it got the starter rebuild and it is still not staring nah the computer is not reading the Jeep at all.
It's so complicated. I paid a mechanic $822 parts & labour. 3 hours labour. I bought the ECM. I couldn't have diagnoses it. I only found your video. As a DYI'ER I wouldn't even try it.
Poor english made this video pure torture to watch. Also show what the ECU is doing before removing it from the car and then show it installed again after the fix. This video is basically a 20 minute video on him soldering some screw holes - who knows or even cares if it actually fixed the issue, right?
So far, I've spent $230/yr parts and labour over 13 years on my Saturn Ion 2.2 ecotec. I think that's a good deal for a free car with 130k miles on it. My brother told me that is a great deal all things considered to this point, but another BIG job may be a " bridge too far" and that I should consider a used Buick with a 3800 engine,$5000, 2000-2005, nothing fancy. That's the plan.
the solder is not burned out it is squashed due to the casing screws and is ok,it doesn't need soldering ,if you knew how to do it you would have put flux on the board, all you have done is to show how not to do it
Nice info, if coil 1 and 4 are working, but 2 and 3 are not working, which components are faulty ? PCB code JG331B09702C1, box = MR44641, Mitsubishi Lancer 2000, I can not see any pulse on my scope from ECU coil 1,4 and 2,3.thanks
I say you should go into learning Industrial Electronics Technology or Electronic/Electrical Engineering Technology at your local community college. Its what I did and I learn a lot about electronics. With that, you'll be able to repair/program car computer boxes.
I have broblem in my car she was automatic transmission and I change to manual transmission. When I but the manual car computer she won't start. She start only on automatic car computer. Please help me to find the problem
linn it is not for Toyota rav 4 2003 .....I also thought it was for it but I met a man who help me to get my own.........but if you need it you can mail him....bruttobrinex@gmail.com... He will surely help you out in no timr
cheap japanese electronics. toyota need to use bosch like honda do. keihin, denso, panasonic ecu`s are a joke. 10 years behind premium brands like bosch , magneti marelli, siemens
Hi sir have a nice . My car also same unit of ECU . there's one issue that 4th injector pulse stopped. I checked all cables. All perfectly. Finally I checked ECU in side circuit. There's one. I C ( integrated circuit) damaged. I need cheng that ic . But not available that ic number. Please I beg you ,you can help for me ...?
A very good work, thanks much, I have Nissan note 2008, there's no power supply from the ECM/ECU to coil number 3, and other coils keeps going off, also other ECU can not supply power to on the check engine sign,,
I liked your observation of the board, it’s a very good tip to look at the grounding connections. Your English although not perfect is understandable, and you can get your thoughts across. If I may present a few ideas, try not to use your soldering iron tip on anything else than the solder, circuit board and component leads. It can get contaminated and prematurely worn, plus it can make your job harder. I always test the iron temperature with the solder itself, once it melts you are in the right ball park temperature wise. It should always be able to hold a small solder bead, if it doesn’t either it needs restoration or replacement. Using flux paste massively helps to melt the solder. The quicker it happens the less heat you will transfer to the board and adjacent components that might be heat sensitive. After soldering, a quick wipe with isopropanol will leave a clean and extremely professional look. I hope you take this as a contribution for other viewers that are getting started in electronic repair, aside from this thank you for sharing this video, it’s great to have people who help others improve their knowledge and skill. Most people get scared getting into circuitry as if it’s something massively difficult. As with everything else, there are some general principles to observe, proper techniques and the rest is practice as much as possible. What you did there helps demystify the black box that people see when they look at an ECU and don’t even dare cracking it open. Those usually just get replaced and they are very pricy, while it can just be a cracked joint or loose connection that any beginner can fix with limited knowledge and means. This is a good step forward, seeing how others have done it and following in their footsteps. Overall, you did a good job, I just wish you would have shown if that repair solved the problem. Well done.
I think you did an excellent job on this video. I did have to disconnect / reconnect the battery to reset.MY Transmission is now working without slipping when going from 2 to 3rd. THANK YOU
Ground and dc supply etch were thick and good absorb heat.. Therefore you need correct temperature and tip to melt solder lead.. Avoid lifting solder tip once solder lead start to melt . Let the melted solder lead to help spread more heat to surface. This is to avoid cold solder.
I'm not sure but ,if anyone else wants to discover tools for electronics repair try Saankramer Electronic Magazine System (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my mate got great success with it.
I disagree yes I don't have to wear one but the vehicular today are all electronics controlled you just need to drag your feet for like 30 minutes on carpet then touch the micro and that's it hahaha

Hi..i had problem with my my car Chevrolet zafira/nabira 2005.. sometimes the aircond cannot running properly.. sometimes its work and sometimes its off automatically..i don't now..maybe it's ECU problem or wiring etc..any suggestions sir..tq..
My mechanic just replaced my ECM . I bought it from "Flagstaff"(?) IN New York State $384 programmed and reconditioned. We already tried 2 from local junk yard. I don't know if it was required. I first replaced starter then ignition switch. I wasn't certain, but I'm more doubtful now with your video!
Can you please help us we have mitsubishi outlander 2016 dosent start after replacing ECU now the IMMO asking for the following keyless operation system service required. So that means we need to program the key to the new ECU and we don't have the original ECU to do so. How can i get back the old data for it? Thanks for your time.
I liked your video, but it seems your Weller Soldering Iron has started running cooler than it should be. Taking the tip and the shaft off and cleaning them good at every connection with a fine scrubbing pad are a very light sand paper and cleaning and re-tinning the tip should bring it back like new. I've redone many old irons bringing them back to like new use.
My Lexus IS 250 2009 model, I change the ECU and I program it for 30 minutes then I tried to start it will make a starting sound and trip off, place what do I need to do
congratulations on your videos, has taken many doubts. and I have a problem in a 1993 corolla, the electrician moved the air and now the air conditioning key does not activate it and is connected directly by the fan key. and the car goes down slowly because I believe that it is not passing through the central , you can guide me to reverse this. then the slow falls a lot and the car sometimes dies. my name is Wellington I am from Brazil.
PETER FINN, does car PCM modules and ECM modules use CAN buss signals or how do they work? What do you use to test and flash program various ECM and PCM modules?
Hi Peter, i have an automatic 2001 toyota rav4 vvti 1.8 1zz engine with 125 000 kms and the automatic gearbox does not work in reverse gear, i also see that when changing from low to 2nd and drive that the vehicle seems to slip and jerk. sometimes the check engine light appears but then goes away again. I have heard about it possibly being an ICU problem. could what you done here be the fix to my problem? could this be the problem in my vehicle too?
Can anyone help? I have 4 lights, (ADS, Brake, Traction, and AWD) on my dashboard that won't go off. All but the AWD are working. What could be the problem?
Hay Steve E. I wish I had back the money I've spent at a "proper repair facility". Besides which I had this problem repaired over a year ago at a "proper repair facility". Not the dealer though because actually I am too cheap to allow myself to get ripped off. This is an old post. How did you find it? maybe you should get a life.
This is awesome !!! What the hell is this?!?!? lol There are siiks screws on the cirqweet board. 1, zeeeee 2,zeeee 3,4,5,siiks 7... lmao Got to love it. Nice info tho.
hi everyone ,if anyone else wants to discover toshiba laptop repair try Saankramer Electronic Magazine System (just google it ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my m8 got amazing success with it.
Pl share email id so i can send video i have captiva one time overheat car after temprature light blink and car dont turn on also i will try to scan car but car wont communicate scanner with car. Macanic told me may be problem in ecm l
it says on the label 1az fe probably an avensis petrol 2.0 or similar "at" may mean auto? on another note i wouldnt have bothered with the solder but would have sandwiched aluminium washer between the case and the pcb so it would overlap the good groundong points.
