Nice job on this video. The trim belt on my Ulterra came loose and fell out of the head unit on my last outing earlier this week. The T25 tensioning screw backed out from vibration. I just had to remove the four screws holding the top cover of the head, reattach the belt to the tensioning block, and put it back together. Easy 15-minute fix. Your video helped me understand what to look for and how to fix it. Keep up the good work. I have subscribed.

Big shout out…this video was a great help to fixing my belt problem. They do a great job detailing all the important things to pay attention to. One extra thing to pay attention to is the little metal clip that holds the belt on at the bottom and top…take a picture of it in place so you definitely put it back correctly.

You guys did a great job. That being said, as long as you still have a section of the belt still through the motor, you can put some packing tape around it to the new belt and simply draw it through by spinning the gear with the drill like you did. If you do it this way, you don’t have to undo any wire connections you just have to take the top unit and the top of the motor assembly off. It’s about a 20 minute job this way. Again, I’m not trying to take anything away from your video. I would’ve not tried it myself. Had I not watched your video, so thank you!

Good job young man…..I’ve never taken the time to comment on a RU-vid tutorial but you deserve three thumbs up. Made my fix a lot simpler even though the belt just popped out of the head but it was definitely a big help to confirm some of my questions. Good job little buddy👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I’ve replaced my belt before and I especially liked the tip about taping the old belt to the new belt.. that’s going to save some time and unnecessary aggravation! Love that your doing “old man work”, I think you said. Very helpful and detailed. 👍🏽 subscribed!

Great detailed video. Minn Kota recommends Pledge or Silicone to clean the belt and track so it doesn’t attract dust and crud….marine grease for the other bits. Nice work dude.

Self reliance is something that you can’t put a dollar amount on.👍 I fix my stuff too. They are a very good trolling motor’s especially if you launch by your self.I just put one on my boat replaced the 20 year old one that came on my Ranger.

Pretty well done……. A couple of things worth noting. Minn Kota does not recommend WD-40 for lubricating the motor a silicone based spray is better and will not attract dirt and dust. There is a torque of 8-10 inch lbs on tightening the belt holding screw in the head, any more and you risk snapping the drive motor belt or damaging the lift/trim belt, any less and the lift/trim could jump a tooth or several.

Hey a quick question, I just had to manually stow my Ultera and now my trim motor is just stuck about 6 inches up the shaft. How should I go about being able to slide it back down..... Did not break belt. Already liked and subbed

Im fixing to replace mine, I'm going to try to pull the belt on the bottom, tape the two belts together and use the remote to (stow) pull the belt through.

Could the shaft be shortened on an Ulterra? I'm thinking for use on a Kayak... the deploy feature would be really nice so as to not need to climb up to the front of the yak to deploy!... Thoughts?

Great video, just don't understand why you had to take the whole power head off. You can remove the bracket that holds the belt without doing that. I think!
@SmallTimeFishing
@SmallTimeFishing Год назад
You are correct that you could loosen the belt block and rack without taking off the head, but the head does have to come off in order to get the trim motor off the shaft. Appreciate you watching the video.

Yes, I figured that out after watching again! Thanks for your reply. This is a very helpful video, great job! I loved the idea of taping the belts together as opposed to taking the housing apart, I saw that done on another video and decided I wanted to avoid that if at all possible! Thanks again!
