Thank you so much for these videos. My synco flame motor was going bad as flames were "frozen" . I disconnected the brown wire to the flame circuit on the circuit board. Also cleaned my fan good. Tested and is working! Put all screws back in and back into cabinet. My flames won't roll like a real fire, but it's ok . My 91 year old dad mostly uses for the heater. Lights still give the look of a fire, just not flames rolling. Thanks so much for your help.
I found one of these curbside today. It is very clean, doesn't power on, and has no tension in the reset button. I am assuming at this moment that the button needs to be replaced. But I've only been diagnosing the problem for 15 minutes so far. I haven't even taken it apart yet. This video is very helpful regardless. Thank you
This video was very helpful. I have that exact fireplace and thought my unit was completely dead. I would have gone through those steps to replace the parts but at the end of the video you showed the reset switch which fixed my problem. Thank you
Thank you so much for this video! I bought one of these models of fireplace used, and it was SO loud when I turned on the heat! I found this video, purchased a motor online, and then used this video to remove and then replace the motor step by step. Now it works like a dream! Yay!!!
I have 2 of these heat surge units both 2008 model year bought them both at an estate sale for $75 for both they both work. But have some minor issues this video is very helpful I will contact Dave for parts these units are worth fixing I believe there very nice
I will be putting a dust filter on my unit. A filter is certainly much cheaper than replacing a blower motor. I have already repaired two of those stand alone units . I was told there were no user replacable parts inside but its funny because I found a place that sells all the parts needed. The price has gone down greatly on those smaller portable units anyways. As you stated, Dust, hair( dog hair) can cause these units to go into a thermal shut down. I have had that happen several times. A thick matt of dog hair is usually covering the intake.
@PhaedraDarwish As with any normal maintenance routine, you should blow out the unit, removing any buildup on areas you can reach. I have found fan blades caked with animal fur. This can cause an imbalance on the fan blades, putting strain on the bushings on the motor shaft. Anything you can do to help prevent those conditions helps HOWEVER, keep in mind, you never want to block airflow to the unit. If you decide to add any kind of additional filtration, make sure you clean that filter often or change it. If the filter gets too full, it will reduce recommended air flow and possible can even get sucked into the airflow area, blocking a large percentage of airflow. Do not ignore the unit. Proper maintenance is a must.
I purchased my hear surge fireplace from HSN in 2007 it is a big unit. Also purchased the harsh it sits on. I think I probably need to buy whole new firebox. I didn't find reset switch. It just quit working. Still beautiful and enjoyed it all this time. Is it to old to replace the heat Box
This video inspired me to take my heater apart and see if cleaning things out would help. My fireplace is model 26ef023grg that came as part of a TV stand. I used compressed air to clean everything out which I'm sure was necessary, but I ultimately found the issue with my heater: the fan wasn't turning! When I first turned it on this season it made an awful noise then stopped quickly (both the noise and the fan itself). That sound, I came to find, was a bushing (on the end opposite the motor) that was rubbing inside a rubber boot/grommet. I disassembled the boot and the bushing, and it was apparent the boot was seizing on the shaft of the fan blade assembly. I removed the bushing and cleaned the inside of it as well as the shaft. I used some white lithium grease I have on hand to lubricate it, and I packed the boot with more grease. I inserted the bushing into the boot (it seats in a groove) then slid it back on to the fan shaft and seated the boot in the fan housing. The fan is spinning very smooth now! I ran the fan for an hour last night to see how how my fix would pan out and it was just like old times. I guess I'll see how long this holds up. Maybe it will become a periodic maintenance thing I have to do. I've been using my heater for five years now, so a five year interval isn't too bad I suppose (assuming I can go that long again).
@@rawlstonm97 I'm glad. I just re-read my post and fixed a few things (I guess I should have used Grammarly 😅). It looks like I posted 3 years ago. FYI, so far, so good.
I've serviced my fan 5 times now over all the years that I've owned mine I blow it out with the air gun And then I pulled the rubber groomets off the ends and grease everything it's easy you can stop it from squeaking in 10 minutes even had to put a low speed gear motor in for the fake flame.
Can you show a close up of the heater/fan switch with wires connected? My switch quit functioning and I believe the contact or possible fuse within has broken
I repaired my neighbors unit from info gained from this video. I have a comfort zone heater VZ2032c that needs a new reset switch. After an hour on lots of sites I can't find parts for it. can you help.
Thanks for this video. I have an ADL-2000m-x that was made the same month as the one in your video! It works in low mode, but if I put it in High heat mode, it quickly trips it's own built in breaker. Not sure what's wrong.
When I turn mine on the flames work and everything but as soon as I try to turn the heat on it can see the heating element get red and then the whole thing shuts off... what do you think the problem is?
I have a Heat Surge X5C unit everything works but no lights. I've checked all the connections and everything looks fine. Both bulbs worked, but I did notice one was a 60W not 40W bulb but no light when unit is powered on. Thanks
I have a CB570SET Chamberlain Media Console/Fireplace which powers on, flames glow and roll however the unit automatically shuts off after 20 to 30 seconds running time no matter what temperature I set it to. Any suggestions?
So if its making a super loud noise when I go to turn it on (wont stop unless I unplug it) its probably the fan? Also has a burning smell as well (but we haven't used it in a while). Where can I get a fan, and how do I know for sure if it is the fan?
Great video, I have a Heat Surge Electric Model M6, My problem is after 10-15 minute it will shut down , beeps then off. Only way to get it to work again is wait 15-20 minute and try again. Some days it will stay on for hours but lately I'm lucky if it last 20- 30 minute. Does anyone have any ideas where I should start with repairing.
My x32a (23a?) trips out after about 5-8minutes on high temp. Was running little longer on low heat. Exactly same time flame stopped moving and is stationary. In spring I took apart and blew dust out , pretty dusty. Just plugged back and same problem. Got reason for no flickering flame. Just don't know if another part is needed for tripping out or replacing synchro motor.? Any help be appreciated. Thanks
Hi David, all that’s on the sticker is 2007-11, but it’s a roll n glow. That being said everything on it works, except the heating element. It just blows out cold air. I’ve taken it apart and checked the plugs. Still no go. Please help
My "flame" is working, motor seems to be running, but no heat. Is this something that I can replahance? I paid about $150 for this "woodburning stove-type" heater. I know it would depend on the price of the part once I figure it out. Do you have these parts? Thanks.
I just fixed mine. the fan was not connected to the motor, so the shaft would just rub against and vibrate making a horrible noise. I shoved a needle in the rubber shaft cover and the end of the needle hits the blades so the fan moves along with the output shaft of the motor
I purchased a 6 new model M6 201010 M6C and one of the units was never used and when we went to turn it on, no fan and no heat. The flame lights up and when we hit the switches, they beep. So is the fan bad or is the inferred heater bad since never used?
Hey Pat give Vacuums Etc a call at 1-855-VACUUM-1. They are the nations leading repair and service facility for Heat Surge. Thanks for stopping by, I hope we can help you. Have a look at our website if you have any other questions. www.myvacuumplace.com
nice lesson on repair of the unit. I have one that threw sparks and smoke. i turned it off and took it apart both commons fried with insulation burned off and neutrals ends look brown on the board,,, Got any suggestions where to start, thanks Eddie
My heater just shuts off. I press the reset button and it will work for awhile then shut off again. The heat and lights work just fine but it shuts off...model #2000M-X Ser#1-08-10-040852
my dad vacuumed the fireplace but a spark appeared and now we're scared that if we turn it on it will blow up. What do I do, is the wire broken or do i need to replace it.
I used to love using an air compressor until mine broke and I decided to try a leaf blower I was so much happier with the results but you have to do it outside :)
Sounds like the fan to me. When the fan is not working properly the heater element will overheat and make the smell you are talking about. The unit will usually shut down at that point as a result. The heater relies on the air flow from the fan to keep it at its operating temperature. If you are going to do the work yourself you can purchase the fan on our web site at myvacuumplace, com or by calling us at 253-474-9468 or 855-VACUUM-1 (855-822-8861)
1st you should look for wires that have apparent burn marks. Then you need to replace them. But you also need to findput what caused the surge of electricity otherwise it will happen again
Mine does same. ...it randomly started moving yesterday. Had it 2 yrs..baughtat an estate sale...and it's never moved. It was cool......it's like to have it always do that
I have 2007 Heat Surge, everything works but the heating element doesn't turn red, and blows cold air. The fan does blow. What could the problem be and what part do I need to replace. Thanking you in advance.
+Regina Weber Mathew has given you dangerous information. You will risk fire in the unit or your home if you follow his advice. For me its not worth it for a switch at 16.95.
I have a 2008 Heat Surge , It will work fine for about 15 minutes then shut off , if I unplug it for a little while then plug it back in it will come back on and work for about 15 minutes then shut off again . What could be the problem ?
MY HEATER WOULD SHUT OFF ON HIGH TEMP AND I WOULD RESET IT. IT WOULD RUN FINE ON LOW AND MEDIUM TEMP. I TRIED TO RUN IT AGAIN ON HIGH TEMP AND IT SHUT OFF AND WONT RESET. MODEL: ADL-2000M-X SERIAL #1-08-09-031001
Ok....at approximately 5:30 did no one else notice the critter crawling around from the right side of the bottom interior to the left and then up the middle in the bottom half of the the unit? I scrolled the top dozen or so comments and saw no mention of it.
@@danakarloz5845 😂😂😂😂😂. Yeah I totally see that now. You know I actually completely forgot about this... But I love that you replied and saw the truth beyond the illusion.
You're welcome, thanks for taking the time to find the correct video for the synchro motor.. just in case here's the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lxETczOSJxU.html
@@vacuumsetctacoma I found that after looking into it further without your valued assistance. I also noticed that in the video you mentioned for the replacement of the motor, there is evidence of burning on a number of certain plugs that carry high voltage to the board, and other places. Those plugs are clear when new, and black when heat burns them. But then, you knew that. Also, that motor can be serviced in about ten minutes from the bottom, and two screws, two wire nuts (supplied) and a cotter pin are all that is needed to deal with that entire operation. But thanks for the help. :/ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lxETczOSJxU.html
His fingers are in the way of some of the wiring examples. And, He should fast forward some of the (un)screwing. The video is too long. Not enough detailed illustrations and or explanations of the wiring!
The best thing to do is to never waste your money on this thing. I am a slow learner and I have purchased 2 of them. Both had the same problem. Comes on for a few seconds and gos off and beeps. Tried to call the company but they don't care , wont return calls or reply to letters. Waste of money
This guy isn't with the company And he is giving u direct info w/o Asking for$...yet u think its a scam....in life u need to see the signs...u gave $ x2 to the person who u shouldn't & u ignore the advice u should be listening to.
