Thank you so much. I snagged the speaker. Had my THX ProMedia 2.1 for 10 years now and it rattling like crazy while in MS Flight Sim tonight. Has about a 2 inch rip in the surround.
The specs on that replacement speaker are nowhere close to OEM. The replacement is 60-8000hz, the original is 31 to 20000hz. The original is 106bd, this one is 87db. None of the other specs match up, either, and this replacement one is now $13.50 so it's probably going to sound like garbage compared to the original. PLUS, if it's just that tear causing the problem why not just replace that one part? That piece and some glue is like $15 and then you have your OEM sub still installed.

@LSandM-SpeakersFromEverywhereould I would say you don't friend. The specs on the $13.50 replacement are nowhere near as good as the original. You are not going to be able to get as deep bass as the original and for $13.50 - come on. I would say it's probably trash.
Refoam kits are $22 minimum! Too much! Put that money towards the tang bang or Epique and really upgrade the replacement woofer! They go wayyy lower than that pos Klipsch that just dry rots and eats itself. The standard 6.5” Dayton is like $30 and hits 29hz so that’s even a big upgrade! Win!
Many thanks, friend! Followed your instructions to the T--great sound as a result! (note: on my unit there was no "gasket", and the "grill" moves around freely in that space. I just wedged it in with some cardboard until I think of something better..works fine so far). These are 11yo speakers my friend gave me b/c they didn't work. 25$ later, with a new control unit, they worked for a decade. Now, sub blows out, and 24$ later I have great sound again! Is it safe to raise the volume on my tablet to max? Cuz people complain about this speaker. Someone said he had four and they all gave same problem for eg (not the problem in this video btw). I have another 2.1 system that has an 18watt sub and two 6 watt satellites and it blasts louder than this thing because I can raise tab volume to 100%
Wow that’s a garbage azz subwoofer! How dare you! It’s not even considered mid-bass it plays way too high. You need the goldwood or Dayton for cheap replacements and good upgrades are Epique and that crazy tang bang. FTW!
Can you do a video on how to source the correct replacement speakers and drivers for speakers and such? I've come across a lot of good gear that could've been saved for cheap if someone knew how to find the appropriate parts.
Dont buy a new driver, thats such a waist! Just refoam the old driver...way more ecological and cheaper. Also, no, polypropylene cones are not better sounding than paper ones...
