What's the deal with these Toyota rear tailgate handles always busting? My neighbor has a 2005 Toyota Sequoia and the rear liftgate handle must have broke like 4 times in it's lifetime. Yes it has 308,000 miles but still. I was told that water gets into the tailgates and rusts the mechanism? Is that true?

years ago I had a Mitsubishi magna, and the drivers inside handle was broken. I was going to go find one at the junkyard, but I decided to first call the Mitsubishi dealership. The new genuine handle was $8

I could have used this video a couple of years ago to replace the tailgate handle on my Ford Ranger.

Mine gets really hard to open but I just lube the latches and it's like new again.

I replaced my 07 Tundra handle with the Chinesium version about 4 years ago. Still doing the job. Thanks Faye.

Thanks for showing stuff that’s not in the Haynes manual. I’m dealing with a hood release that doesn’t ‘pop’. Pretty sure I have to dismantle most of the front end to fix everything. Hondas!🥲

If it anything like a 80s ford door handle you should be able to drill out the broken pin and put a m6 bolt with a nylock nut and put it on the shelf for when the Chinese one breaks

Is it possible to restore/refurb the original handle? Or it wasn't worth the time and effort?

Thread a couple of zip ties around the broken handle so they make a loop. Put finger in loop and lift up n out. This should hold you until you do Faye’s diy.
