Your carburetor may be flooding the spark plug or double check make sure the switch is on

those darn sticky check valves.......

Must be this unit is from 2014 and got to where it just wouldn't start or prime no gas up to it tried new primer bulb and that didn't do nothing. Unit still had some warranty on it but, place that sold unit said we needed to tune it up and because it had some grass on it was why it wouldn't start or prime no gas so I just picked it back up and bought that one carb off ebay and thought I will show them still need to figure out how to tune it. Far as I am concerned ***** I agree with you they are junk in my opinion. VE1AXC I have heard people mention the check valves may sound stupid but, what exactly does the check valve do? I am not a real big expert obviously I have read up on about them sticking on other Stihl Models.

thersten What? In other words, you're saying the guy in the video, showing people how to fix a weed eater part, doesn't know what he's talking about? And only because he said "it's not a space shuttle, it's a weed trimmer"? If that's what you're saying (and from the sound and look of it, instigating to boot. Must've been bored, 2 years ago), then it's YOU who doesn't know what YOU'RE talking about. So you know, and in LAYMAN'S TERMS (as the guy was so nicely showing all of us in the vid), he was basically saying, "it doesn't take a rocket scientist to fix this weed trimmer" or, "we're not building a wrist watch here". Shall I go on, or do ya get it? Either way, I hope you got the gist, here, 2 years later. HOPEFULLY within the 2 years before now, from someone... ANYONE, since your intentionally sad attempt at belittling others. Only someone who didn't know what they were talking about would say and do something like that.

I replace them pretty often on the FS45's and FS55's. Then again, I'm working for a Stihl dealer.

suchfunstuff I have a 14 year old fs85 that has never had problems and just bought the fs240 , what a machine. Man I just about cut down half my bush with it its a brute. Cheers

I have an FS85 from around 2000 and an FS110 that I bought 4 years ago. Pretty much trouble free, here. The 110 with a Tri-Cut blade is kick-ass.

Just changed mine today on my FS55R. 13 years old.

@@toddzino58 what symptoms was it having when your fs55 coil went bad? I bought one from a guy today and my suspicion is the coil is bad because it keeps dying once it gets hot

Very well could be, but if it is brand new I would take it back to the dealer for them to fix or replace. You shouldn't have to put a wrench or tool on it if it is brand new.

Sounds like woodruff key on crank /flywheel, may be sheared off!
