How to replace a door sweep (door bottom/seal) without removing the door 

I was going to remove the door until I saw this video. Thanks for saving me lots of time and frustration.

This is the best video regarding under outside door sweeps I’ve seen. None of this drilling holes into the bottom of the door or having to remove the door. Slide/pound the rest on & be done w/it. Going to hunt down this U shaped vinyl under door seal. I hope the wings last though as the black vinyl/rubber wings I had that were on there were not the same as these. They’re always constantly discontinuing things in a relatively short period of time, however the one that was on there may have required door removal but it lasted 10 years when the house was redone so they may have put the original sweep on when the door was off & yet to be installed. It would be cool to just find a slide on rubber door gasket that’s pliable yet sturdy.

Thank you for this my cat tore away the rubber stuff on the bottom of my door and it’s freezing in here in the winter time I appreciate this video very much. Now I can put a new door sweep on the bottom of my door and not freeze as much.

Sometimes the old under-door seals pop right out, and the new one slides on. As I found out, sometimes they don’t pop out, and you have to take the door off its hinges in order to pull the old one out. It depends on if your old one has become brittle and won’t simply pop off.

A little all purpose cleaner sprayed on that sweep will help it slide on easier. Thanks for the tip for not having to remove the door. Contractors to my place did a terrible job with the front door and it’s a massive pain to access the hinge pins.

I have the kind of door sweep that just sticks to the inside of your door. It's not sticky enough, so it's loose or falls off a lot. I like the way this one attaches much better. But does it keep bugs out? That's my main concern. I HATE bugs.

After installation, shouldn’t the door sweep be screwed into place?

The door sweep itself needs caulking....water will seep into the top of the sweep and down into your home....FYI

Did that original have little plastic pins that went up in the door? Glued too?

Why is the size available as 1 3/4"? Whenever most doors are 1 3/8"

How do you know that it would seal door once closed. Like it not being to big or small to fill the gap?

This seem fraught with potential issues. Like paint damage from sliding it on. Or, it might be too loose in places. There are probably definite reasons the old one was nailed in.

@2:32 doesn't removing the old bottom sweep that came with door expose the door to moisture and create conditions for mold to grow?

Would that work if the old sweep is screwd in from the bottom?

UNFORTUNATELY if the previous owners got suckered into installing a Pella POS door, they are too wide for the M-S sweep! Any other suggestions?

This product is not white. It's more a sand color

Do not use this type of door sweep unless you want a rotten door bottom. You can caulk the outer seam of the sweep but water will find a way in. Terrible engineering.
