I just finished changing my filter and fixed all my starting issues. Getting the fuel pump inside the tank and lining up the holes correctly was the hardest part. I used a hanger/fish tape to grab the middle of the wires through the top of the tank. This lets the fuel pump point downward to get into the holes. Took me around an hour or two to figure that out. Now my bike runs perfectly

Low fuel pressure. My daugther have a 2012 ktm duke 125 that would overheat and shutdown the motor after 20 minutes in iddle . No Blink codes, no ecu codes. As the bike loses fuel pressure it turns the mixture too lean, overheating the motor, but not overheating the coolant temperature, and not turning on the fan. Ktm mechanic wanted to change o2 sensor, injection pump, and clean throttle body. It would be a huge bill to pay so with the help of RU-vid i cleanned the throtlebody, and tested o2 sensor ok with multimeter and obd scan and no change. Cleanned the intank pump prefilter that was clogged and problem solved.

My concern now, even if I am able to get the pump back in the tank is the black connector at top of pump now comes off very easily.

No one ever includes the secret curse word that makes the fuel pump magically twist around inside the tank and perfectly drop into the holes.

I have exc tpi 250 2019 i have 20 hours on it. i noticed inside fuel tank fuel is spraying and i can see somthing like air bubbles so im guessing there is some crack on hose or on pump joint with filter. otherwise bike runs fine but when is on fuel reserve it start bogging (i think then it starts to suck air through this crack).

What did he pull or adjust at the end when the bike didn't want to start right up? I'm already having slow startup issues on my bike, and I was thinking the fuel filter maintenance might be the remedy. That doesn't appear to be the case here?

It didn't start right up because it was filling the lines with fuel. Just takes some cranking time.

Warning to people attempting this at home: you will scream curse words you didn't even know trying to line up the fittings in the tank lolol. They make it look sooo easy.

Lining up the pump isnt hard, just shake the pump into place while holding the access cover to pull and adjust the angle while dropping it in.

At 3:02 - 3:19 "do your best to seat it" didn't work. I sprayed out and reused the old fuel screen with carb and parts cleaner. The fuel screen Rocky Mountain sells with the OEM kit has a flaw in the mold used in the manufacturing process was smaller with a noticeably different fitting on the case.

Also, immediately noticed the KTM OEM fuel pump filters and related pumps are from Turkey not Austria and many of the KTM and Thumper sites are stating more failures now from the parts not made in Austria. Perhaps the EU gave incentives to outsource KTM OEM manufacturing.

Tell me how to stop my bike from throwing me over the bars when it runs out of fuel over a jump fc450 17. . My rmz 450 13 model injected allways was safe never just cut out. So dangerous should have a low fuel light .

So, roughly how often do you change the filters out? Not per manual. I also have a bib filter and about 90hrs on mine. Was gonna do them at 100 along with some other stuff.

Some people suggest changing after the first 30-40 hours on a new bike. Then I've heard roughly 80-100 hours or every two years (whichever is first) after that. I just did my 2020 XC300 TPI at 30 hours and I plan to change it again in two years. I used a "Wix 33095" that only cost me $20. I didn't have a replacement screen though so I just sprayed it out with contact cleaner.

After further research it seems there's a hot debate on whether the "Wix 33095" will handle the 50-55 psi from EFI. I just installed a Wix but to play it safe, I might switch to the 2-stage filter from "Best Dual Sport Bikes" which looks pretty good.

Do the early KTM 350sxf not have a in-line fuel filter? I disconnect my quick release tab and it looks different and there's no filter, is that standard? i.e. I only need to replace the fuel pump filters. Thanks

Thats exactly the same as my 2013 sxf350. No inline filter. Was unsure if the previous owner had removed it for some reason

I watched this video, but let me tell you, getting the filter back into the tank was a lot harder than what was visualized. Thank god for coat hangers.

giobikefans i agree. Been trying for over an hour. Not sure what the trick is. Any tips. Definitely a maintenance a will never do again. Wish was easy as video

Is it that hard? Mine is out and I’m waiting for the filter. It seems like you just tilt the tank and push it through. I guess I’ll have to see when I give it a go

Mine magically has an extra 2 inches of line on the filter line which made mine real fun to reinstall. I would trim my lines to fit better but the lines are preformed. imagine that. I used some light gauge stranded coated wire and stripped back the coating and tied it around the threaded larger threads and pulled lightly and wiggled and pulled and jiggled and pulled and fished and pulled. I also used a straight pick to line up everything and it dropped in and I untied wire and threaded together. I'm curious how the factory does it 🤔

@@yellowveedub Honestly it just fell into place for me when I put it in with the tank leaning to one way. I did something wrong and had to take it out and it went back together super easy again.

@@nepicness I think my problem is my line that the filter is in is at least 2inches longer than any I've seen in videos. That causes it to bind up when reinstalling. Plus I was tired and it was late is my excuse 😂

I have just replace the fuel pump in my 11- 350 xcf, with a quantum pump. To pump runs when you hit the starter button, but I have only about 3-5 psi fuel pressure at the quick connector. What have I missed here?

MerryMarauder YT I have a 2015 350 xcfw and I’m hoping this is the problem. I ordered a filter and just put the screen in my ultrasonic cleaner. I already cleaned the injector and replaced the inline fuel filter. I haven’t got the fuel pump filter in the mail, but hoping it works

Nathan Slocum I have the same problem.. did a engine rebuild and everything is right from timing to battery and has spark + new injector.

Yep!! I was hit by another rider really hard. Hard enough to break the fuel pump filter and my leg. Even besides getting smoked...it seems this is a fairly common issue.

Because your fuel pump is breaking up inside (mine did anyway) and then it died in the middle of the dessert with not even a hint of quitting had only 40+ hrs on the bike.

I have a 2016 ktm 250sxf, bogs and dies after riding for 20 minutes to 1 hr. Mechanic can't find any problems he States, but my suspicion it dies when it heats up for some reason. It's gone thru 2 batteries already and some say it's an electrical issue or a bad ecu, but nobody seems to have an answer. All these problems started happening after a new top end was installed. My next guess would be bad fuel pump or dirty fuel pump filter ? Beginning to think bike is a lemon. Not sure who to take ktm to at this point for intermittent problem as they would Have to ride the bike over 20 minutes to replicate the problem. Hope someone has encountered the same problem. Bike has 100 hrs, thanks for any leads.

Did you ever solve this issue? i’m currently having the issue of my bike not wanting to stay running at low idle and bogging really hard from mid to high range revs. i own a 2015 ktm250sxf with 83 hours on it. been having the issue since the beginning of my last ride. thanks
