Appreciate the video. Couple of things you may consider next time you’re doing a front door glass on just about any vehicle. The rubber trim that you removed does not need to be taken off. Because of the shape of the window when you remove the old one you can lower the regulator to the bottom, and then tip the back of that window towards the front of the vehicle Basically pulling up and as the window rotates, you will be able to pull it out. Installing is just the reverse of that where you start with the part of the window that is towards the front of the vehicle and lower that inside of the door and find the groove and then rotate the part of the window towards the back of the vehicle down into its groove. The plastic trim that you removed the 2T 25 bolts from did not need to come off either.
Great job Rick! This is the best video for replacing an window glass on a Mercedes. I have a ML 500 but I can use your technic here too. Thank you so much.
Thank you very much Rick! I was totally lost as my bullet proof glass stopped a bullet but shattered the glass barely holding. Now, I can be at peace with a new window on my S550. Gracias
Thanks for sharing. I just completed this job using the WIS instructions and you do not need to remove anything from the outer side of the door to get the old glass out and put the new one in. Once you remove the door panel, remove the rubber molding that the panel sits on top off and the glass come right out after you angle it down.
Again, great video that can take a lot of the gas work out of trying to do this job. You failed to show how you reset the automatic up and down of the window. After doing thousands of door glasses, I would have to say sometimes that is the most annoying part. Maybe you can do a video on that next
But i must say i lost one of the glass bolts as it dropped inside the door. I was able to replace it with an M10 bolt. Quite interesting, i am thrilled.
Top quality video. What I find out changing the window you don't have to take whole windows seal out, Just the part which is on the two bolts. I also used spray bottle to soapy water the seal, goes back way more easily.
when you removed the little speaker, did it expose any fasteners that holds the side mirror, I'm trying to figure out how to remove the side mirrors so I can vinyl wrap the chrome the goes under it the mirror panel. (once I receive my vinyl order ) just planning ahead
thanks for the video mate. really helpful. iam looking for a double glas to upgrade my 2010 s350 facelift w221 from single glass to double glass ... do you know if i have to look for specific part numbers or are all glasses (double and single glass) working on all w221 models no matter if facelift or not. i also drive a short s class not a long wheel base.
All i can say that they uses the laminated glasse for ther windows too thats preety rare on every mercedes i have seen the gass windows but this realy. Surprise me
