Man did you get lucky. When they are old and rusty this turns into a huge job.

Brian, nice video, but you might want to add FWD in the description. My 2012 AWD rear looks a little different with an axle coming through the hub. I'll look at removing backing plate because simply pounding the hub isn't working after I pushed the axle in to disengage the splines.

I had to do both rear bearings on my sister in law's 2007 Edge FWD this past weekend. I watched a few videos on the job and yours, by far, was the best in regards to step by step, tools, etc. Thanks for the sanity check. Even on jacks in the driveway with hand tools, it was a relatively simple job.

I feel the aproack was strong and the method was solid but i wouldnt use red on the bearing fasteners. If you gotta get back in there for the many reasons possible you may need heat to take them off and when i torqe lugs i always push down in a even sweep never pulling up as to save my back. I am thankful to see this info is avalible and solid teks putting it out. Thank you

this work well on the fwd version. on the awd models, the tone ring on the axle interferes with the bolts, because you know.. ford

Great video Brian. If I lived in SoCal I would apply to work at your shop. Coming from the rust belt to Socal would be a dream. I should've stayed out in Socal back in the late nineties. I was stationed at 29 palms

@@HowtoAutomotive Its frustrating at times. Some jobs take longer because of the rust and we break bolts and studs on certain things because of the road salt.

@@feeneysmechanical6215Semper Fi spent 4years in the palms. Lived in San Diego after late 8os . As a mechanic you are correct as I am in Indiana . But I keep my stuff cleaned after salt laid. But I do not which to go to Css as li as we left there because it was getting outrageous in expense snd gas prices here niw are 3.50 and like 6 in Cali....

Brian, I appreciate the videos you put out but I'm amazed by the apparent size of your shop. It seems so tiny and cramped. I need space to spread out! LOL.

It is a small shop. But we do have 4 bays in total. I am only filming in 2 of them. Maybe someday will move to the big shop.
