Nicely done video, but saving money on that is not the best way... Engine is not getting that much air like without this pice of filter hood. Less air -> less power -> less MPG. New air filter cost 12 pound...
That filter don't do it I just found mine had and the main filter was extremely dirty just like this added filter got rid of it and voila much more responsive and the turbo is very happy now (OPC)
*Main filter can now last for years* you dont know how to service a car you dont know jack shit what you are doing how about just buy a new filter for it not that much money and is the proper way and saves your engine.
To save 15euros fuck up your engine with a sheet, You’l lose power and the fuel economy will increase so I would just use the filter and after like 12 months I would change it again. I do it all the time and the engine is happy!
To be fair, some manufacturers have a 'pre-filter' on. These can be OEM parts. Such as BOSCH on most of their air filters. They are designed to stop larger debris such as leaves etc clogging up the filter panels. In any case, I don't think this guy gets the point of it and is just creating his own 'pre-filter'. I doubt it is as good or working effectively due to it being a loose panel inside. Probably going to make it not sit down properly and create uneven seal on the rubber... thus allowing dirt and air to pass through toward MAF sensor from the open breaks in the ill fitted seal. That's my 10 pence one the matter. ...but it won't 'F up his engine' or increase fuel economy or lose engine power because of it. There's a video of dirty to clean air filters on a dyne which proves this. Even a clogged up filter with 6,000 miles use doesn't change the overall horsepower. I still won't be doing what he is doing. I change mine properly every 6,000 mile when I change the oil. Thanks for reading.
