Shoot some WD-40 in the key slot and work the key around. Twist the key and steering wheel. Even beat the key with a rubber hammer when it’s in the ignition. Worked for me when my key was totally stuck and wouldn’t switch to accessory
This seems to easy. The dealership wants over 200 dollars for labor and over 200 for part. If I just take the cylinder out, hand it to the locksmith with the new one and my keys, I just slip it back in and drive away. Does the locksmith even need the old cylinder? Seems like they just need the housing, the new cylinder and tumblers and keys. Thnaks
Ok, I'm done. Pretty straight forward, keep in mind the lock cylinder may not pull out of the ignition as easy has shown, put some graphite into the ignition column and then push in the hole to release the switch. takes dome finagling but slide out
hopefully this works for me i have a 05 ram and when i turn my truck off the key is not going all the way off and when i get back to my truck my battery is dead so im looking to try this this week end great tips thanks
Before installing this , were you able to start your vehicle at all ? I believe I'm having the same issue have replaced battery and starter and there still appears to be a soild red dot on dashboard it only goes away when you step on brake pedal but even then truck will not start . Nothing comes on ... Locks don't work light's nothing not even hazard lights . any feedback would be great thanks !
Evan walker I too am having your problems Even. I replaced alternator and battery. But, every morning when I attempt to start truck, nothing. Not even dome light. So the last two nights I unhooked battery cables and truck fires up just fine. Juice is obviously going somewhere while in off position. Key will indeed easily pull out from cylinder while truck is running. Hopefully this will fix problem. Peace
F$$king RU-vid good lord. I’ve spent more time listening and relistening to commercials than the quick solution being presented. I’m seriously done with this platform.
