Question: Should you bleed the air out of filter with plug in top of filter holder before opening valve to furnace to prevent lose of line pressure? - Good video!
that makes no sense. he should leave the ballcock valve, the one on the right closed.open the bleeder on the housing first, then the valve closest to the tank. When fuel comes out of the bleeder in a steady stream, close it. Then open the other valve. By having 2 valves and bleeding it that way, he eliminates any air in the line and the need to bleed at the oil pump. Great video, very informative., Do you have the part number for the filter housing so I could replace my old style filter to this style? and the valve can be removed and switched around if you wanted to..but leaving it that way forces you to keep it closed to use the bleeder...It's actually clever
Great video , helped us with the basics of doing this filter change.. and thank you to the other replies about bleeding the air.. keep up the good work. And thanks again for the time spent to post this video
Good vid but a few important mistakes, 1. You did not replace Oring on housing. 2. You did not gravity bleed the filter of air to were heating oil comes out of top of housing at screw hole location when screw loosened. 3.Dont have to tourque filter on hard as after filter touches base another half a turn will do it. But I will say I think you lubing gasket with heating oil is ok as I've done that for years and have never had an issue and plus it says ok to use heating oil on the box.
We recently had our furnace serviced. And the filters changed including the tank filter. But now we have a rattling noise in or around the tank when the furnace is on. Any ideas whats going on? There was no noise before they changed the filter.
While watching I noticed you didn't bleed air out, but also see many have commented on this, however now that you failed to do so the only way to bleed it will be at pump on burner. Have to run burner and wait for it to shut down due to lack of fuel, then bleed it like you ran out of oil.
I typically fill the new filter with heating oil (to reduce the amount of air), then bleed any trapped air out of the line at the burner. Hope this helps you out.
