Great guide, thanks. i just bought a Mini Countryman from 2010, petrol one, the battery is death, so I just bought a new one and I'm going to replace it following your video.
You should’ve told people that at three minutes you stop the video to put the windshield wiper in the a position so you could get that off. You didn’t help anybody by not telling us.
According to mini usa: turn ignition on then off, push wiper stock up and hold until wipers move to up position. To disengage, turn ignition on and move wiper stalk down once.
@@Carmafixcars if the battery is dead, does this still work? My battery is completely dead with the key stuck in the ignition. I cannot remove the key.
How did you manage to set the wiper to the up position? I am removing right now the whole thing as it won't stay up there and it is a real fight against the machine :D

@@Carmafixcars Is this for the newer F series minis? Cause it does not work for an R60 2016. This feature is usually designed for cars that do not have access to the windshield wiper blades while the car is off, and the wipers are in the park position.
@@tombanes Most likely for the newer minis. The older ones should be the usual turn ignition on , activate wipers and turn off ignition when wipers are up.
Looks like you changed you battery with a smaller type that is also available for this car. The battery for this model is h6/48, you installed a group 47 which is a bit smaller. Would still work fine but this model requires the larger capacity. Good video.
I noticed that as well - I typically "over buy" batteries but every thing I looked at was H6 size - that's what I bought for my '13 Countryman just now.
Did you have any electrical problems with your car after the battery replacement. After I replaced my car battery, the front windows doesn't go up automatically, I have to keep pressing the knobs. However, they go down as they should, that is, just with one push of the knob. Can you help with this??
You need to reset the windows after changing battery or battery discharge. To do that usually just hold the button down in each door or the driver's master switch, for about 5 to 10 seconds, then pull up and hold again. Test to see if auto up/down works. Do this for each window.
@@santacruzfitnessofficial you're going to need an OBDII port computer that has capability to register the new battery into the ECU to ensure that things like Amp Hour capacity and battery type are registered, so that the alternator and charging system doesn't over or undercharge your battery.
@@Titot182 our '13 Countryman S has BMS (Battery Management System) - which can be "registered" with some OBDII "dongles" - I bought the Autel MaxiAP AP200 (about $70 on Amazon) was able to register the new battery though you could not manually enter the Ah for the new battery if you tell it that it's not the same battery size/capacity it'll determine it. You can also see if/when the last batteries were registered.
It is very important to use an OBD2 computer for the Mini to reset the battery to new due to the battery management system. It is a simple selection. If you do not do this the small black square on the battery harness will think your battery is old and the system will not charge the new battery properly. Then you will get a surprise with a short life battery and be cussing the wrong problem...I bought my computer at Advance Auto and got a better one at $150 although there are ones that are cheaper. The dealership wanted $90 5 years ago to do it and I laughed. I bought my own computer.
