NOTE:
In this video we show how to replace an iPhone 5C battery by removing the front assembly completely. This is not necessary but most first time technicians find it easier to work with both hands free. If you proceed by not removing the front assembly, it needs to be held securely at a 90 degree angle or the cables can get damaged or tear. This results in loss of LCD, touch or front camera functionality.
We have made a quick guide showing how to replace the battery without removing the front assembly:

We urge everyone to also read our text/image instructions before attempting the battery replacement as it can get tricky and if not done correctly, there is a risk of damaging various components.

We made this video to show everyone that it doesn't take an Apple-genius or a highly trained technician to remove and replace an iPhone 5C battery - anyone can do it!
A battery in an iPhone 5C, or any smartphone for that matter, works like any other battery - it wears out with time. After about 300 cycles, i.e. 300 full charges and discharges, a significant drop in performance is noticeable. The older and more used the battery gets, the more obvious is the performance drop. In the end the phone can end up shutting down when the battery percentage drops below 10-20%. In this case a fresh, new battery brings the phone back to life.
In some cases the battery swells. This results in the glass/digitizer lifting from its frame. If the battery is very swollen, it's not uncommon that a gap is apparent between the glass and the metal back assembly. This problem can also be fixed by replacing the battery.

Product info:
The iPhone 5C battery replacement kit linked in the description is a complete kit with battery, tools and instructions - everything you need to get the battery replacement done!
Our batteries are manually tested before they leaves our quality control center and they are packaged in a ESD safe bag before placed between two layers of protective foam. The tools are carefully chosen to make the battery replacement process as easy and smooth as possible. We've also chosen to include metal tweezers as it's a very handy tool and can be used both to open the phone as well as picking up screws and other small parts inside the phone.

Excellent guide. You cover tons of side-issues that can come up, much better than the other guide I looked at.

This worked great for me! I only had minor problems with one of the screws, and I did tear the adhesive while removing the old battery despite my best efforts, but I was able to pry the battery out and remove the old adhesive. The video was very clear and very helpful. The product is well designed. Thank you!

Thank you Scanditech for making the replacement of my iphone 5 battery so EASY and AFFORDABLE. Watched your youtube video after receiving the quick delivery of your box which included tools and battery. Was able to take things apart and replace battery and get everything back together in a very short time. Curt Hay

This worked for me. I slowly worked the plastic prying tool starting at the bottom of the battery -- away from where the video says the adhesive tabs are affixed, and I then jammed a credit card under it. With a hair dryer warming the glue, I slowly worked and wiggled the credit card down the length of the battery, slowly releasing the adhesive, wiggly the card and the pry tool over a period of about 10-15 minutes. I did it so slowly to avoid hitting the motherboard. I destroyed the adhesive, but a guy at an iphone repair store gave me 2 strips of some free double sided tape -- it's a very thin strip of adhesive, that I used to replace it. Thanks for the video! one thing you might point out -- when removing the screws from the bracket over the screen cables, pay attention -- there are 3 short screws and one long one. I marked the long one, and the corresponding spot on the bracket with a sharpie so I would know where it belonged.

I've just done this job - and your vid was by far the most helpful. My sucker wouldn't get the screen off easily so wedging something in the little gap was helpful. Warming the right part with a hairdryer to loosen the adhesive ('specially as my tape broke) was also helpful Thanks.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! It was very difficult for me since the kit I got didn't have the right sized screw driver for one of the screws but hey, it was the worth the 2 hours and I only had like 10 mental breakdowns

Great video.. unfortunately I had many issues, fortunately I will be upgrading my phone in a week or so and although this was a disaster for me, I learned a lot and it's not a big deal..just have to go without my old 5c or any phone at all for a week. lol (and will return new battery I installed) First off..I tested new battery and it lit up and worked... I SHOULD have left the screen on and did it one handed because the screws at the top holding the plate would not budge, at ALL and i ended up flinging the phone around every which way, with the screen hanging on. (MISTAKE) I gave up and went for the old battery.. cut the tab of adhesive no problem, warmed a little and long story short, both sides snapped right off, leaving adhesive under battery.. I had to pry the left side for a very long time to get that old battery to finally give. What a pain.. Put in new battery in... anyway, phone is black, running but black. Obviously in my battle to remove screws off top place, im guessing i damaged the tabs..all i can think of. My advice would be to skip removing screen altogether if you have screw issues and yes, they ARE SO TINY ..i had enough trouble getting the two back on the battery plate.. this video makes it look so easy... Anyway, good video, wish it worked out for me.

Can I use ordinary double sided tape? Because some of the batteries have not included the adhesive.

It took me a while to get the battery out but got it at last, the screws on the top right wow 😳 they are super small gotta be careful of not losing them.!! The video was ok I guess he could've gone a little slower.👍🏼

Hi there, Awesome! Congratulations on the successful replacement! I agree, the screws are incredibly tiny and they are differently sized. So if a longer screw is inserted to the wrong slot, it can damage the board. Cheers!

Emily Gonzalez that either means that you battery wasn’t plugged in correctly or the screen is not plugged in enough or that you need to charge it

Everything went well... Except the home button doesn’t work 😩😩😩😩😩 Now what ????
@ScandiTech
@ScandiTech 4 года назад
Hi there, When the home button does not work, this means that the home button cable is either loose or damaged. To fix this is to simply reconnect the home button connector to its port. Please make sure it is seated. A soft click means that the connector has seated.

I did replace the battery but the home button, speaker, and the socket did not working😭

Hi Allysa, I'm sorry to hear about the issues. It is most likely that the connector of the speaker and the lightning port got loose during the process. This connector is located very close to the battery connector. The home button connector is most likely damaged or loose. Try to reconnect the connectors and check to make sure that everything is seated.
