What size is that wheel stud pilot pin? The one you are using. I just don’t want to buy the whole kit. Thanks.

hi bro...2 years back i replaced my fronts brake pads and it show about 80k km left or more km left(my rear brake pads about 30k left) but today i've got the warning message on idrive that my fronts brake pads need to be replace and only left 1k km...my question is why my fronts brake pads drop off to much because im not often to drive the car(about 5k km drove a year) ..my second question is do a brake pads has due date@ interval services like oil@fluids change or which is come first? i thinks no make sense my mileage km left drop to much from 80k km to 1k km( my rear brake pads drop from 30k km to 24k km in this period)

Do you have to take the caliper off in order to just change the brake sensor ?
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 6 лет назад
Jonny Saucedo no you can pull the Sensor out through the opening in the caliper. And reinstall it with needle nose pliers.

Good video! Do you have to remove brake fluid from the reservoir?
@HowtoAutomotive

No need unless the reservoir is overfilled

Great help - thanks! We are having trouble removing 18 mm bolts on backside - used breakfree overnight, didn't seem to help. any suggestions?
@daboogster7639
@daboogster7639 6 лет назад
Ray Marks , use a breaker bar and socket. If that does not work only choice is a torch to heat it up then the breaker bar and socket.

Thanks for a great video.I can't see why you would have to bleed the brakes at all, period. You didn't open the brake lines or introduce any air into the system, withdrawing brake fluid from the top/reservoir is the safe bet. If you bled it from the bleeder screw, then yes, you might have to bleed the brakes.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I couldn't figure out how to remove the calipers on my new-to-me 2008 335xi. I've done this job many times on many other vehicles, but this was the first one that used this style of caliper. Every other tutorial I found on this vehicle demonstrated the job on a totally different type of caliper, the kind I was already familiar with. Anyone know the reason for the different types?
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 5 лет назад
Stewart Peters no need to be embarrassed. This vehicle has it a different caliber because it has performance upgrades.. thank you for watching!

Well done video ... but the last link fo the wheels pin set... just waist of money. .
@Figglesprout

just did this job.. some notes while its fresh in my mind - those 18mm fuckers will not come out just rotate in the rotor around them - the caliper needs to be held firmly to the rotor when the 7mm hex goes back in - the rattle clip requires 3 hands to put back in 2 to push down the both sides of the clip and 1 to insert the metal thing

at what point do you think you should replace your front struts? lol
@Cdswjp

if your car bumps hard when u hit a pothole / small bump... also, if your car kinda goes up and down a bit & doesn't feel as stable as it should sometimes when you're going at high speeds on the a freeway where the ground isn't perfectly flat (because even though it isn't perfectly flat it shouldn't feel like the car is bouncy / bouncing around)

Now I realize why Scotty Kilmer advises not to buy these foreign luxury cars. Just a brake job that is typically one of the most straight forward jobs you can perform on an American or Japanese car, is a nightmare on a BMW, Audi, Volvo etc. I am now 100% sure that I would never invest in any of those foreign vehicles. This is a good video if you own one of these cars.

How is this different from doing a brake job on any other car? You have no idea what youre talking about, and Scotty Kilmer's opinions on anything cool are garbage.

What are you are talking about? This is way easier to do than my 2000 Grand Cherokee. Those little pry notches are genius. Edit: Thanks Brian!
