have an old I-30 in excellent shape as a back-up car and this has driven me nuts, finally a video that clearly shows to pull the metal tab and thru the loop that is on the pad and have them on the topside not bottomside as i have been doing the past few years. had constant pulsating issues because of it. the local shop did the same thing too, they weren't installed correctly. this finally cured it. a 1,000 thank you's

Firstly, thanks for not using all those fancy air tools in the video as many of us don't have those. Also for not power editing all the wrenching so I get how much cranking will need to be done. Also I agree with the other guy in that you show the steps very well. Thanks !

+Nelson V Thank you.To be honest I also use the air guns but in my video i do almost everything by hand to demonstrate that you don't need air tool to do almost any of the repairs i show.Jim

I never seen that brake pad clip position before, never worked on one of those either. Good thing to remember.

Thank you so much for the tutorial video just showing me where the brake pads hook up to those little spring parts that release the pads away from the rotor was exceptionally awesome cuz I couldn't figure it out I didn't know where they went cuz whoever put them on before me didn't have them right so I thank you so much God bless you for that

Thank you so much for posting this, it was tremendous help. Is there anyway you could do a video on how to switch out the sparkplug's on this infinity. The ones on the front are easy, but I'm not sure how to get to the ones by the firewall, thanks.

I followed this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iMVaEi2UVeo.html and this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1N4vJDoozMw.html Worked fine. Buy parts online on amazon and do it yourself save tons of $$

Interesting clips on those brake pads Jim as I've never quite seen any like that. And good tips on having the correct ones and how to hold the pads in place to let the caliper swing down. Do you have any issue of where the metal backing plate of the inner pad that touches the piston ever squeak. On the brakes that I do, I'll put a little disc quiet lube on the piston that touches the inner backing plate since it's metal to metal. And what manufacturer of brake pads do you like to use? With your step-by-step tutorials Jim, you make a good teacher. Take care Jim...

I've not done too many brake jobs but those clips are new one to me.

+wyattoneable Thanks for watching.Yes the clips are very important they pull the brake pads back so there is less of a drag on the pads.Other wise the brakes start to have a constant squeak.Jim

For the slide pin boots, at 10:00 you say the “skinnier end here that slides around the top.” Not clear what you are saying, and could not see from the video. Does the skinny end of boot attach to frame nipple or to slide pin head? (Great video btw)

I have seen many Nissan's and Infinity's that have been done wrong as that one was. That was a great tip on how to hold the pads in place using the caliper. So simple. I guess that's why I didn't think of it. {:-)

Great video. Did you have the brake hardware clip under the loop of the brakes pad or through the loop? I put them through the loop and now fear that I've been doing it wrong. I think that the last nissan brake job I did, the clip was through the loop from the factory. I could be mistaken though. It was a nissan xterra.

+Michael Herbert Good question. The clip goes through the hoop part of the clips.Jim

Thank you, getting ready to replace pads and rotors on the wife's 2002 I35. Are the rears pretty much the same configuration as the front? Also I have seen other videos where they show pinching off the brake line and opening the bleed screw to reset the piston in the caliper. I never bothered to do that before on any disc brake jobs I did before. I used to just take the cap off the master cylinder and used a c-clamp the reset the piston in the caliper. I don't care for the idea of loosing the bleed screw and take a chance on getting air in the system. Is there any reason why some mechanics are shown using the bleed off method? Thanks again for the video.

No need to open the bleeder screw.Just use the C clamp and push in the piston as you always did for the front .The rear is a little different you will need to rotate the caliper piston in with a part of needle nose plyers or the special tools .Here is the procedure.Let me know if you need any help. 2.Remove brake cable mounting bolt and lock spring. 3.Release parking brake control lever, then disconnect cable from the caliper. 4.Remove upper pin bolt. 5.Open cylinder body downward. Then remove pad retainers and inner and outer shims. Standard pad thickness: 10 mm (0.39 inch) Pad wear limit: 1.5 mm (0.059 inch) 6.When installing new pads, push piston into cylinder body by gently turning piston clockwise, as shown. Carefully monitor brake fluid level because brake fluid will return to reservoir when pushing back piston. 7.Adjust the piston to the right angle as shown in the figure 8.As shown in the figure, align the piston's concave to the pad's convex, then install the cylinder body to the torque member.

Thank you so much for taking the time to go over the procedure. I really do appreciate it. I will be doing in the next week or so. The car has a lot of steering wheel shake under moderate to heavy braking. I'm replacing all 4 rotors.

There is no need to open the bleeder valve. Some people thing that by opening the valve the will remove any dirty fluid instead of pushing it into the lines.

We purchased a 02 that was a one owner with 94,000 miles in excellent condition. we have 120,000 on it now. Only thing we have had other than routine maintenance was a cam position sensor. Local garage wanted about $300 to do it. I bought the sensor online for $65.00 and replaced it myself watching a video on youtube. It has been a very good car for us. Good luck with yours.

www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=3793554&cc=1431962&jnid=329&jpid=5 These are the rotor and pads I purchased from Rock Auto for my wife's 02 i35. I hope they hold up better than the OEM rotors. Those front rotors are heavy! Weighed them for the hell of it, 16lbs. Definitely some metal there. I hope being drilled and slotted they will resist warping. Thanks for all of your help Jim.
