New CV Axle Assembly from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1AACV00347
This video shows you how to install a new front driver side CV axle in your 2004-2006 Scion xB. A CV axle has flexible joints. Often, these joints wear out, or seize from contaminants due to the protective boot tearing open. A worn joint is prone to breakage, or other hazards. If your vehicle needs a new CV axle, install a quality TRQ axle that is engineered to your vehicle’s specifications.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2004 Scion xB
2005 Scion xB
2006 Scion xB
Tools you will need:
• Pocket Screwdriver
• Pry Bar 1aau.to/obz/1AXAA00020

One more question.....it seems a lot of us have trouble inserting the unit into the trans. One hint is to grease-up the clip-groove.....this will help keep the clip "centered" instead if it falling down and protruding more on one-side vs the other. Comments?....the other thing is that a lot of mechanics say orient the clip with open side "up"...whereas the Toyota/Scion manual for my xA says keep the open side of the clip "down"...at the 6 o'clock position. If this is true....would 12 and 6 o'clock give the same affect....meaning...stay away fro 3 and 9 o'clock as these positions cause more trouble ??????

Excellent tutorial with close-up shots.....small point.....couldn't really see what you did to remove the inner joint from the trans....seems you hand got in the way in this ONE place where I wish I could have seen it better. Did you use the crow-bar as a pickle-fork....meaning.....did you hit it with a hammer to use the "wedge-effect" of the tapered tip to get the joint off?....or... do you use the crow-bar tip as a "pry-bar" and leveraged against something ????

Someone who knows how to work on a rusty car! Tapping the impact gun, not just laying on it. You've snapped enough rusty bolts in your day!

Are the slotted rotors on right to each side?

I have a question I just bought a 2009 Scion XB. When I put it in reverse or forward from being parked or sitting still. I hear a single ting noise. Single metal noise. This is what I’ve determined what I think it is. What noise do you most likely hear to determine this may need replaced. I used all my savings $5,300 - pretty much to buy this vehicle that supposedly had nothing wrong with it.

If it humms at 50 or more yrs its a bad cv axle

At a stop making a turn if you hear a clunky noise most likely it is a cv axle

Quick question, do I have to have the car level to do this or can I place it at an angle to prevent some atf from spilling?
