New Shock Absorber from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ib/KYSH...
This video shows you how to install shock absorbers on your 2003-2021 Chevrolet Express. Shock absorbers help your vehicle stay stable and safe. Signs of worn out shocks are knocking or bumping noises, loose handling, or a bouncy or bumpy ride. The typical service life of a shock absorber is 50,000 miles, depending on conditions. TRQ shocks and struts are engineered to fit your vehicle perfectly.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:

I just did this. One side was easy, was able to completely remove shock with no jack or cutting and replace new shock with just slightly jacking up front end, I even left the wheel on for it. On the other side, the Upper nut was rusted in place. You will likely have to remove the wheel. I drilled 3 holes in the side of the upper nut, 3/16 each and it began to move. If you cant get a wrench on the small flat portion of the shock stud (or in my case it was so rusted it broke off) you can cut off the shock boot and put the actual moving part of the shock arm in a vise grip to prevent it from spinning.

Awesome video, thank you for the torque specs. For any other slightly lazy viewers, I was able to swap both front and rear shocks with the wheels on and vehicle not jacked/lifted. Weight on wheels. Just needed the tools listed in the description, but did not need the 18mm wrench/socket.

Yup. never ever do shocks without a torch. Even nut breakers don't always work. Love the impact chisel too. Used to use a pipe wrench on the shock body to keep it from turning.

Why not use penetrating oil? Give it a couple of minutes to soak in, then use a wire brush on any exposed threads to remove rust & dirt. Most home DIY mechanics do not have a compressor & air tools. Using an air chisel next to a hydraulic brake line is taking an unnecessary risk. Keep it simple & methodical. If anything seems rusted together a bit of heat from a propane bottle will help draw the oil in & the different metals will expand loosening the threads.

No need to even take the Tires off, I just jacked up the vehicle about 4 inches not even tires off the ground and did this job all the way around... didn't even need to jack the rear up at all but it will make the job easier to do if you put the rear up on those plastic ramps.

Cutting off the nut is not a bad idea but if u don’t want to if u just wire wheel all the dirt and rust on that stud off the nut won’t get stuck

22mm works for the wheel nuts and hub cap but it should be standard making it a 7/8" socket....might fit better than a 22mm socket

Shoot i never compress them before i put on, will now. Hey i just landed here trying to figure out why the top bushing wont compress when the nut is tight. I have the washers in place, seems the shock is built wrong. Theres a ton of threads above the nut and the bushing isnt even compressed. Kyb gas adjust 554356, on a 2015 express 2500.

Is the only thing holding the shock center of the hole is the rubber bushing? My oem had a nylon bushing to keep it centered but the new shocks did not

Is the 18 footlb for your parts? Or is that the GM standard, so to speak?
