But if you do what are you going to say to the customer but if you leave the nut on no problem also most of the home mechanics will probably hit the thread.
bro I'm from Papua new guinea and say thank you very much for the video, it helps mi I'm a practical mechanic which I need it. once again thank you very much bro
Doing this right now mate…. Thank you.. thank you.. thank you. I’m putting in new lower lcas. New sway bar links. New front 2” suspension. All new bushes. Should be a breeze after this video!
Mate you are a life saver! This was the best vid on changing the front strut! Factual, no ads, excellent tips and far better than anything 4WD24/7 spruiks! Top of the class!
That sucks mate, replacing the diff isn’t too bad in a Hilux, if you can get the whole diff it’s a lot less time consuming then replacing just the center
Thanks for this video, I followed the factory manual and got the struts out but couldn't push the LCA down far enough to push the bottom of the strut home, this helped me get it sorted, cheers.
Another brilliant video, you explain and show everything so well. Every hilux owner should be subscribed to your channel. Thanks for pointing out all the bolt/nut sizes too. Looking forward to your teardown and clean of the EGR and intake.
Thanks mate 👍 appreciate it Unfortunately at this stage the intake clean video isn’t happening I did the job and filmed everything and while I was editing the video the laptop crashed and lost everything
very useful. I picked up a 2010 a couple of weeks ago, its to replace my gen 2 Pajero 2.8 soon. I ordered the Pedders 50mm heavy duty front and rear suspension.. Here in England so much surface rust etc and nothing as clean as yours down under. Had to angle grinder off the drop links and no way can get in a 6mm Allen key and hold it as pitted and corroded. So just got to order a pair of the drop links also. Here we get the 2.5 engine, or the 3 litre but i went for the 2.5 as we get rear diff locker on those rather than the LSD on the 3.0
Thanks heaps, you covered everything with no mucking around. I feel much more confident about doing the job myself. I watched several other videos doing the same job, but your’s was the most competent, you obviously know what you’re doing. Just a tip, you need more or better lighting for your videography.
Hey mate, been watching your videos lately and lovin it, theyre super informative and give me enough confidence to do it myself, just wondering if you had a video on replacing the rear differential, also what tools do you mainly use?
Installed a lift in my lux using this video , very helpful. i had an issue with tie rod spinning when tightening up , ended up using pressure with a bar. cheers big dog.
very good video, certainly makes life easier if you have the right tools. Just one tip, you can fasten everything, but don't fasten the bottom bolt on the shock until the wheels are back on and the vehicle is standing on its own weight, only then fasten that bolt, that way you not putting torsional forces on that stupid rubber in the bottom of the shock, in theory it should make it last a little longer. Otherwise one of the best simple most mythological approaches I have seen yet, great video and lighting work. Would have liked to see you do the CV as well.
Thanks, I agree that is the ‘ideal’ way to do the bottom strut bolt but honestly who wants to lay on the ground trying to get leverage on one bolt? Haha
Hey man, great video. Just wondering if the current n80 front struts (2015 - current) will fit on a stock 2010 n70 hilux? I see you briefly mentioned it in your video. Can't really find information anywhere else. Plenty of these are going for sale brand new which have been parted out due to upgrade, is it worth grabbing a set since they are being sold quite cheap or investing in an aftermarket set ?? Cheers
hey mate, is that a genuine strut & shock? I am planning to renew mine in a few months as stock suspension from 2006 is looking very sad. Assuming it's stock shock, do I need to replace anything else? Also, did some CSI style "enhancing" on your video and can see the part number - 48510-0KC40, google shows me that's for 2015 aka n80s. Any issues putting them into the n70?
Wheel off 35mm nut on the cv shaft off 2x 17mm bolts on caliper off Rotor off ABS line off 1x 12mm 2x10mm bolts 4x17mm bolts on the back of the hub Tap it out with a hammer, can be tight New one back in and reverse process Will make a video when I have to replace them, for now hope that helped 👍
Have only ever fitted pedders to a lowered car, so don’t know how they’d go offroad have fitted hundreds of TJM and arb kits though and they go alright
Thanks but this way takes 20ish minutes each side, easiest and fastest way If you loosen the control arm the wheel alignment will be all over the shop when your done
Thanks man , but man if you Mark them first , both sides of each one, then drop the lower control arm outta the way, it is seriously faster. I just put 30mm spacers in mine ( short term) took it for wheel alignment and it was still bang on . 😉
Hey mate, just let you know. The way you show how to remove the struts, is extremely time consuming. There is a much easier way to remove and replace. You simply lower the lower control arms after undoing the bottom strut bolt, and swing it clear. Then undo the top strut nuts and out she comes. Have a go you will see for yourself.
Thanks, but it takes me about 25 minutes to completely do both sides this way on most cars Also as a mechanic of 11 years I have never seen anyone do it the way you describe, yes it would work but just not how we do it
