One recommendation, you can remove the plastic shield in front by popping out 6 push clips with a pry bar. That will give you a better view of the Drag Link & Tie Rods and makes it easier to get a wrench in there.

Thanks for the added tip!

Easier to take the fender off with the liner attached, just have extra body mounting clips. Take out the 5 bolts, and yank the fender off with the liner attached to the fender, some of those plastic clips will break. When putting back on, put the clips on the fender first, and line up to holes on the body, and snap on. Replace the screws, and all set.

I had a huge problem with that Moog drag link sleeve and burred threads, and could not adjust my steering wheel properly, as I had a inch or so of threading In the sleeve that was flattened on the pitman arm side, luckily I kept my Mopar drag link sleeve and used that. Next time I’m buying Metalcloak and throwing the Moog in the garbage, where it belongs, totally crap quality assurance.

I am so stupid, I wish I would have followed the turn to the left when I did mine and just pushed that pitman arm over, instead of trying to keep center. So much easier.

They make a tool to separate those joints so you don't have to beat the crap out of the knuckle.
@HomeOwnerRepair
@HomeOwnerRepair Год назад
Yes, we use a pickle fork in a lot of our videos. This is another way to separate the joints if you do not have that particular tool.
@TheSwordtheory

Can you just replace the ball joint instead of replacing the whole drag link?
@HomeOwnerRepair
@HomeOwnerRepair Год назад
You should be able to replace the joint. On my Jeep the joint pulled right out of the pitman arm so I wasn't messing around with it. I replaced all of it.

Even better, he could have just replaced the tie rod end. But that adjustment sleeve was really rusted. If you have the money and can buy a drag link. Do it, spending an hour or two constantly blasting the adjustment sleeve with fire to move is a pain
