Thanks for watching! Please consider subscribing to my new channel here: www.youtube.com/@jamminpcs. I'm trying to move the easier hardware stuff there so that I can focus on the more in depth troubleshooting and diagnostic videos here :)
I'm 81 years old and have an ASUS laptop, replaced 3 years ago, that is sitting here with motherboard still inside. I'm reluctant to put it in a collect pile somewhere with my personal information still inside. HOWEVER: Your video is excellent. You do not waste time. Your language is clear and understandable. Of course, I cannot make use of the information because it's way beyond my capabilities, but if I were in my younger years, I'd probably have (might have) tried to remove the motherboard myself. :-} Many RU-vid makers could learn from your presentation style.
Thanks for the nice words :) Are you looking to erase everything on your computer before getting rid of it? Is your computer turning on and working well?
@@PC_Monkey it was just a joke although I'm actually interested in changing/upgrading its parts. Mine is Lenovo G500 laptop. It only has i5 3rd gen, intel hd4000, and 4gb of ram and guess what, sir? The other slot for ram is literally broken so I'll not be able to use dual channel. *cries*

Hi, thanks for the video. I believe it will help me a lot. But I have a question. I'm thinking of replacing the motherboard of my HP Pavilion g6 2000 laptop, so I can use a better RAM and processor. But it is important that it is the same size so that it can fit in the laptop case. What would be the best motherboard from HP (or the same size that I can use) to fit the HP pavilion g6 2000 laptop ?
Laptop motherboards do not come in very many variations unfortunately. In most cases you would have to look to see what variations your motherboard takes of CPU, RAM, etc. You can look up what different options your computer comes with or you can use websites like crucial.com. They can scan your computer and tell you upgrades for CPU, RAM, SSD, etc.
You can check to see what possible CPU upgrades are recommended for your computer on Crucial.com :) Or by looking up your computer on the manufacturers website :)
If it is possible to replace the whole motherboard, doesnt that tehnically mean that you can replace both your CPU and GPU (in case both of them are stuck on the motherboard), which means you could upgrade your whole laptop considerably ? (i might be very wrong, feel free to correct me)
Yes, if your computer comes with higher options, you could swap out your motherboard for one with greater specs. If your computer does not come in other options, then no, you would not be able to as no replacement motherboards would be available.

Its possible. Its hard to say without seeing it. Is the port broken or is the clip broken? You can see those a little closer here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9_8kR99aZHk.html If you do replace the motherboard, no, there are no adjustments that are needed.
@@PC_Monkey Thank you! Greatly appreciated your efforts! One sub and like! Don't you mind me asking you a question? I have got one 8-year-old Toshiba and a Samsung a bit newer than that. With laptops, parts compatibility is not as common as with desktop computers. You would have to search for 'lenovo g40-50 motherboard' or find the part number on the motherboard :( You would also have to search for one with an i7 assuming that model had that option at one point.

No. Assuming the HDD is still good and the operating system on it is still good, you dont have to install or update anything simply due to a motherboard replacement :)

Yes, you can put custom motherboards in computers in gerneral. However, there are some pretty tech compatibility issues to consider and its not a practical thing to try in most normal computers.

First it died while I was gaming. I started it back up, played again for a little while, it died. Started it up, played again for a shorter amount of time, then died. Each time the screen time got shorted and shorter. Down to only showing the MSI logo, and now no screen time at all. Not even the logo. Just completely black. From what I’ve seen in my research I believe I may have a bad capacitor. My laptop is an MSI stealth. I’m currently trying to find a bad printer around thst I could possibly find replacement capacitors for.

1st - This was a tutorial on how to replace a motherboard. Not a BIOS chip, HDD, RAM, etc. 2nd - No lol, you dont have to transfer a BIOS chip in order to use a HDD. And there is not DATA saved on a BIOS chip that the DATA on the HDD is dependent on. Not sure what your mean to say but no, transfering a BIOS chip is not needed in order to use a replacement motherboard, HDD, or any other component.

Whats wrong with your computer? What needs to be fixed? Models only come with so many options. If you cant find any that sold with other options, then most likely, there are no other options.
@@ams.1315 Its possible youll be able to find one. Again, if you can find that same computer and same year selling with different GPU options then you should be able to find the correct replacement MB. If not, then most likely, no other options exists
The point of this video is to show viewers a general tutorial of replacing a motherboard. Checking the model of their dead laptop has nothing to do with this video actually lol...

1. Whats wrong with your computer? Are there any signs of life at all when you try to turn it on? Lights? Fan, Motherboard, or Hard Drive sounds? Anything seen on the screen? 2. After a liquid spill, you want to first make sure the computer is 100% dry. You would turn your computer off immediately by pressing and holding the power button until the computer turns off. Then you would disassemble the computer as much as your comfortable with, at least trying to remove the bottom case. Then you would turn it on its side and let dry for a couple days.
@@PC_Monkey Thanks for quick reply. Re Q1. It did start at first but then came upwith a blue screen saying a problem was detected and would shut down. Snce then nothing, no signs of life at all when I press the power switch. Q2. After that problem I did take it apart and left to dry out, replaced the CMOS battery and cleaned it's housing with a cotton bud. So I'm pretty sure it's dry now. I've seen somewhere about sending a current thru the pin 2 of the keyboard connector to bypass the button but not quite sure how to do that. I do have a multimeter so have tested the charger as per one of your other videos.
My MSI GE63 was not displaying on its main screen, only on external. After I tried to diagnose it, it won't boot up at all. Would've liked to see the ending of the video where you actually turn the computer back on! Lol, I don't think there is a single person in my country who replaces motherboards. If that's the thing that goes bad, then they all tell you that it can't be fixed or that the cost of fixing is so high, that you're better off just buying a new laptop. By the looks of it, it's so risky unless you're accostumed to it. 🙁 I have an issue with my computer where the screen was black and was not coming on.
