LG linear compressor replacement is a very complicated repair and not every appliance repair feels comfortable doing this repair. I found it most techs are having issues with soldering stainless steel pipes to copper pipe. With different temperatures keeping the heat and loosing, it's very easy to make a hole in stainless steel tubes. If you are the owner of the fridge and looking for a repair techs in your local area, first check with LG customer care service for a warranty on the seal system for your refrigerator. Typical warranty is 5 years labor and parts are covered. 10 years warranty for the compressor. As owner its easier and least receiving free part from the LG and then you can pay only for a labor for the local appliance repair techs to do the installation. I did not made a video of how to rewrite the software for the electronic board, using LG made jig. Or simply you need to replace the control board to a newer version with updated software. On this video I already did update the software last time and I completely forgot to do it again just for the sake of the video. As for jig if you want to purchase it, make sure you are buying the last version of the software.

It Is Nice to See That Even The New Improved TC Universal LG Compressor is also Failing So You Can Assume That every 3-4 Years You have To Spend another $1000.00 To Replace The Replacement Junk Compressor! I Have a Kenmore ELITE LG with the Junk Compressor Lasted 3.5 years, But My Parents have a Frigidaire That Still Works Fine after 42 years! Don't Use Compressors like those anymore because they actually Kept Food Cold! Naa Put a TV and some LED Lights So You can see your Food Going Bad in Your 3.5 year old Refrigerator that Cost $4,500 and Like Paying Rent For it in Service Fees You can Spend another 5K Trying to keep your food Cold! I will never buy an other Product made by LG or Samsung! Marketing Trash and Cash Cows. I had Just Filled My LG KENMORE ELITE with $500.00 worth of Food 2 days Prior to my Linear Compressor Failure all Trash and my parts are being Shipped so Next Week I will Have My New Defective Replacement junk Compressor and Cold Food for at Least 90 days is the repair warrantee! So In 100 days I can Spend another 1000.00 to keep my food Cold For another 90 Days? WTF? Nothing Says LG on my Fridge other than the Compressor! If I wanted an LG I would have Purchased an LG, Like If I By a Cadillac Will it have a KIA Engine under the hood? Because this is Happening to Hundreds Of Thousands Of People on Every Defective LG Compressor Why Do We Need to pay a Dime to Fix This/ Its not A warrantee issue Its A Product defect! And I Got the EXTENDED $499.00 Warrantee so Because they Know It Lasts 3 years but not past 5 they only offer a 3 Year but not a 6 year. SCUM BAGS! Class action Lawsuits to LG and Kenmore and when You call LG they tell you that Kenmore is Responsible and to call them and then you call Kenmore and they tell you to call Sears and Sears says Call LG and then call Kenmore and all Day Long I can Tell You That I BOUGHT A KENMORE AND KENMORE IS RESPONSIBLE TO FIX THIS DISASTER! Let KENMORE file a lawsuit with LG and fight it out but instead You the Consumers get stuck with a $4500 Boat Anker, Your call is very important to Us and You are calling Customer Care Hot Line! The Only Thing Hot Is the Food In My Refrigerator that should have the needed function of keeping Food Cold! The 5 year Labor might be for LG but Kenmore is only 1 or 3 if you buy the Extended In-Home-Master Protection Plan. ITS AN LG PROBLEM SO LG SHOULD EAT THE REPAIR COSTS! All I know Is 3.5 years on an almost 5 thousand dollar Product is Criminal. I Don't Care If The Front Of my Unit Says its a Kungfool Refrigerator The Compressor Should Be made By Kungfool, I bought the Kenmore to replace a Pile Of Junk Samsung that lasted all of 4 years With All Kinds of Problems But It kept my Food Cold and Compressor was Fine but Iced Up Freezer and Icemaker problems Just to Upgrade to This Fancy Trash. TOP-OF-THE-LINE KENMORE ELITE LG= LIFE IS GOOD! NO! LIFE SUCKS IF YOU PURCHASE SOMETHING MADE BY LG! $500 in Spoiled Food in your 5 thousand dollar Refrigerator! Life Is Good for The LG Company in Service Fees, Kenmore LG Garbage. Toyota Has Bad Frames in Pickup Trucks and Replace them FREE of Charge! Subaru has Excessive Oil Consumption Recall and Replace your Engine FREE of Charge. Kenmore / LG Has bad Linear Compressors and Its All Of them! What will They Do For You The Customer? Charge You as much as 1,500.00 to Fix There Issues.

You are all wrong man. At minute 1:39, the suction side gauge shows about 5.5 psi. With R134 that is about a - 2F evap temp. Any T&P (temp & pressures) chart will show you that. I think you mentioned the unit was a little cold. And now everybody who has watch this, plans to change their compressor. Sui Seidel agrees with me. Four weeks ago you found this : " Pressure on the low side was at 50s and freezer was completely warm." That's a bad comp.

First let me preface this by stating I've done hundreds of these LG comps. 1st, You should have pulled the cover for the main board and seen if it has the LED blinking for a comp error. 2nd, That pressure did not indicate a bad comp, you should have looked at the high side to get a better idea. I bet you have a leak in the evap and it sucked in some air, its probably what killed the first comp as you already have the upgraded 1 on it. You should check it for a leak. I didn't see you pull a vacuum or even do a sweep charge. And for the love of god, don't pull a fridge out on a hardwood floor without a protective pad to prevent floor damage!

I did the main board update with the LG jig first time when I replaced the compressor. My first compressor was Tca38091801 and this was the only compressors I had at the time and i took my chances may be it will fit. But apparently you cannot install it for some models, including the model i worked here in the video. This part is the older version of the newer LG compressor TCA38151706. Pressure on the low side was at 50s and freezer was completely warm. Customer was loosing food and actually first compressor fixed the issue but ice cream could not get rock hard in the freezer. I replaced the second compressor three weeks later. With the second compressor TCA38151706 it took all the issues and problem fixed. And I did the vacuum, may be i did not put it in the video but I can promise you I did ))).

@@allaustinrepairs2054 You should always cut the driers open on LG sealed systems to get a better idea of whats wrong. LGs have a major problem with rust in the yoder loop that will cause the comps to go out. I cut every one i do open and i find tons of them packed with rust or filled with a black powder from the the comp valves grinding away.

Just an observation, but looked like that thing didn't have enough gas in it to cool. Generally there would be several PSI when manifold is connected to a fully charged system.

To all you Refrigerator repairers -- can I solder copper joints (and copper to stainless) just using a propane torch? I see you guys all using acety/oxygen and acety/air. Is acety required or will it just take me longer with using propane torch? thx
@allaustinrepairs2054
@allaustinrepairs2054 Год назад
Yes you can use propane. But it’s very inconvenient. The main reason is the temp which is very low compare to acetylene and you have to keep it longer on every joint. It means you need to isolate the surrounding pretty well since you have to keep propane like 20 times longer than acetylene. I tried propane once and I couldn’t even finish the repair I had to use my acetylene. But I know people who use propane. There are some special kit makes propane burn hotter, it has hoses with torch. It will take you longer still but it’s better than regular propane. I believe they sell them at Home Depot.

@@allaustinrepairs2054 Would using MAPP gas be almost as good as using Oxy Acetylene gas? Also is this soldering, or is this brazing? What kind of rod are you sing to do this job?
@allaustinrepairs2054
@allaustinrepairs2054 Год назад
@@m.n.3490 I think you should be just fine with mapp gas. It’s just you need to keep it longer and the flame might be bigger than acetylene. I never used mapp gas I am probably a wrong person to ask about that. I use 15 percent silver rods. If you braze stainless steel with copper like most LG condenser coils are made from stainless steel, than you need to use flax. Liquid flax. Also at the very beginning I had a hard time to use 15% silver, and I used orange rods, you can buy them at Johnstown supply and it’s very easy to use those orange color rods for SS and copper joints. Sorry I don’t remember the name or brands.

You removed the rubbers from the pipes ahead of time, allowing the atmosphere to enter the compressor, I didn't understand why, you don't have a vacuum pump and you fool yourself into thinking that you are vacuuming with that compressor, you didn't sweep the system. I thought I would learn something from your video, but I didn't.

@acrepaircenter9961 Год назад
There is nothing wrong with non LG dryers, you can install them and they will work the same as LD dryers do. And there is no need for the rest of the procedures since here there is no blockage or leak issues. Two most common LG compressors, TCA38151706 and TCA36411702. My mistake was not installing the part that belong to this fridge. That’s why freezer was cold, but ice cream wasn’t getting rock hard. That’s why I came back and installed original part. I mean I could go over all the details with how to update board with jig and stuff, but all that was done when first compressor was installed.
