I’m just about to upgrade my friends Satellite C50 as the speed is abysmal! If you don’t want to clone the old hard drive and just do a fresh install of a new windows 10, do you have to format the new ssd first ? Can you do this in the bios on the laptop or would you have to do it on another pc first ? Many thanks
The windows installer should just setup and format the blank drive if you select it at the setup stage. No need to format or create partitions. If you are reusing a drive which has been used before you will need to delete the existing partitions in the setup screen. (Existing old data will get wiped in that process).
I have an old Toshiba Satellite with Windows Vista I was given for free. I’m just using it as something to mess around on and maybe a portable dvd player/burner but I’d like to upgrade a couple things.. I upgraded the RAM from 3GB to 4GB (2x2GB dual channel) and now want to upgrade the SSD. It looks pretty straight forward but a couple questions… one.. how much did this improve performance? And two.. do you think Windows 10 is ok to use on such an old laptop even if I upgrade to an SSD? Or leave Windows Vista on it? Thanks!
@@freename Awesome thank you! I didn’t even think about Linux. I’ve been tinkering with PC’s for a long time but just got into the hardware side of things. I’d just use this laptop for random stuff as I have my main PC as well as a couple other newer laptops. Just seems like a waste to just throw it away since it still works haha. Thanks again!
any problems with exchanging a hard drive from another satellite c50 which has frozen to a black screen? I've been told to re download win 10 but worried about losing important things doing that
@@freename i did not have the smart hub then only had it for 3days tried all the passwords on the card its still not letting me connect my tablet to hub - any idea what else i could try many thanks WILF
Check if the data on the card matches the sticker affixed to the router? Maybe the cards got mixed up? If not, factory reset the router and then try, someone might have customised the password so it is not the original one from the label? Finally connect with a network cable and look at the router settings to see what the password is set to? Also be aware the password is CaPiTalS sensitive so make sure you type it exactly as shown on the sticker.
